Just like I thought, as soon as Mercury went direct (last night) I received my package from Glamis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so excited.  I took pictures of everything.  She made me lovely slippers (purple top, cotton flower bottom with my initials so I don't slip!--I'm wearing them now.  Two stripey candles that are so awesome!  Yoga jewelry-- the lotus, shoulder stand and cobra.  A gorgeous beaded bracelet that is on me right as I type.  I don't know what the jewelry is made out of?
And she sent me some lovely sweets.
I'll try an post some pics

Stripey jar candle-- I love the colors!

Another candle- -this is so cool, I really like these.

Purple slippers I am now wearing.

I tried to picture everthing together.

Thank you Glamis!!!!!!
I love everything!!  They are very special and I treasure our new friendship!

2  Red Shari Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lucelu on: January 04, 2008 09:35:19 AM
Hi, I just finished this dress.  It took me a day and a half to sew.  It is a plus size, 48 in Burda sizing.

3  Poseidon's Pet in CHALLENGE 23 ENTRIES by lucelu on: December 04, 2007 09:39:10 PM

I found this at the Rescue Mission for $6.99.  I know, too much.  It screamed 80's so badly that believe it or not, at the register "Love is a Battlefield" was playing by Pat Benatar.  I remember the video, I'm sure someone was wearing this.  It is a study in excess, Ruffles, sequins, lace, bow, rhinestones and shoulder pads.

It took a bit of time taking it apart.  I started out with Simplicity's pattern 4063 -- a dragon pattern.

The fabric was very difficult to work with.  If you are ever tempted to buy polyester satin, run away from the bolt.  So long as you don't have to put ANY stress on the seam, perhaps it will be okay.  It also does not take an iron well, so be careful if you have to use any fusible interfacing with it.  That said, the directions don't want hardly any seam allowances, they are 1/4 inch and it has you clipping to thread all over the place.  I sewed the strips of the ruffles together after removing and pressing.  If I had to do it again, I would have fused the fabric "sheets" I made to the interfacing at that time-- Not after I cut the pattern pieces.

I gave up on the legs and feet, really who can do this without the f-bomb?  So I adapted it to sea-monster, it really wanted to be a sea creature.

Here's Poseidon's Pet:

The dress was a thrift store find and not in my size.  The pattern can be used again.  I might play with it after the holidays with different fabric to see if it works any better.  The directions are not that great.  It uses a lot of wire, I don't care for the way the dragon's wings are done. This is why I did a sea monster.  I'd like to imagine him pulling a sea chariot for Poseidon.
