31  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / pizza box wall hangings! FAB! on: May 22, 2007 09:52:40 AM
I was given a few smaller sized pizza boxes and wasn't sure what to do with them...but I did save them....and this morning I had a great idea to make wall hangings with them.

First, I covered the edges with tape to make sure it was smooth.
Then I covered the front and sides of the box with a beautiful japanese-type printed fabric.  I secured it on the back with staples and some tape.  Smiley
Finally I poked a hole in the back and hung it on the wall.  I think they look AWESOME!

They work out great with my living room re-vamp!  Much cheaper than buying a pretty picture, and if I get sick of the fabric I can just change it. Smiley  I'm going to make one more to hang directly under this one.  Smiley

32  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / New Xbox game holder on: May 21, 2007 01:29:03 PM
So we are in the process of revamping our living room into a Japanese-type theme......we needed something to hold our Xbox games, controllers, remotes, etc.  I used a shoe box and covered it with white card stock, I then covered the corners with a shiny black ribbon.  I made a sign for the front with the Chinese symbol for Strength.  I think it turned out pretty good!  Smiley  It is pretty easy and maybe not all that spectacular, but works out great!

34  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / my heart was broken on: May 13, 2007 11:45:05 AM
I went to Walmart yesterday and they were clearing out their patterns section, or the majority of it and ripping the patterns in half and throwing them away...I asked why they were tossing them and they said they are getting the new ones for the season......I couldn't believe it....I was just there...they didn't even discount them before hand or anything....just tossed them...OMG!  Why would they do that?  I don't get it.
35  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I know it's been done.....jeans to skirt on: May 02, 2007 10:28:53 AM
This is my first jeans recon...I'm fairly new to sewing and I'm so proud of my new skirt!  I hate that staying home and playing with my kids is causing all my pants to split in the knees!  At least I can still use them for some time!   Grin
