51  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Preparing a photo for iron-on transfer?? on: November 17, 2004 10:30:01 PM
I love the look that "Meexie" has obtained with her baby-bag and the kitty pillow and was wondering what I need to do to my photo to achieve it?  I'm after that stencilled look, without actually having to stencil.

Thanks for any help!
52  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hat & Scarf on: November 15, 2004 09:23:46 PM
Just finished my most recent hat & scarf. They're worked in Ornaghifilati - Land in colour #103 - an icy blue on 6.5 mm circular needles.  Had to knit the hat twice ... first time it was way too tall!  I think I'm going to applique a snowflake to the hat ... make it a little special.

UPDATE (Nov. 17):  Instead of appliqueing a snowflake, I decided to try my hand a knitting a flower! Here is the result ... I think it looks quite smashing!  (the pattern for the flower can be found on the fabulous Knitty.com

53  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Help needed with ring bearer pillow! on: November 06, 2004 11:04:59 PM
OK, I promised to make the ring bearer pillow for a friend getting married at the end of December. The pillow part is no problem ... it's going to be about 8" x 8" ivory satin with a pleated ribbon and tie to hold the rings. My problem is ... it needs to attach to a dog!  Any great ideas?  I've tried a proto-type where the pillow sits on the dogs back, a long ribbon ties around her chest and 2 velcro tabs attach the underside of the pillow to her collar. It didn't last long ... one shake and the pillow was under the dog! Help! Undecided

54  CANADA / British Columbia / Re:Vancouver - Yarn Stores on: November 22, 2003 10:59:29 AM
There aren't a lot of good yarn stores in Vancouver, but I buy most of my yarn from these three:

A Touch of Wool - 4273 Dunbar Street - near 16th?)
Knit 'n Stitch - 2460-A Marine Drive, West Van - http://www.knit-n-stitch.com
Wool & Wicker - 120-12051 Richmond (Steveston) - http://www.woolandwicker.com

I didn't know about Homecraft, but I'll check it out now!.

Have fun!
