21  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 5 ENTRIES / Knit Wire Bead Bracelet on: August 21, 2005 05:27:52 PM
Here's my submission!

A little while ago I got an e-mail from one of the many knitting groups that I belong to and it had a pattern in it for knitting a bracelet from silver wire and beads!  This challenge was my impetus to give it a try and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I had originally intended the first bracelet as a 30th birthday gift for my sister, but now I think I'll keep the first one!

Credit for the pattern must go to Marnie Stockman of http://www.frivolousfibers.com.  The pattern can be found here - http://www.spunmag.com/article/050605bracelet.  Working with the wire was tricky, and not terribly friendly on the hands! But once I got the hang of it, it went pretty quickly (about 2 hours).

Here are the pics!

Beautiful bag.  I especially like the contrasting details and the bottom corners.

Welcome to Craftster by the way!  I know exactly what you mean about cruising around and then finding yourself completely addicted to making bags.  Now I'm wondering what to do with them all!?

Here are 2 new bags I've made over the last week or so.  The striped one is dark brown brushed cotton and bright green raw silk, and the triangular (trapezoidal?) one is black cotton and floral upholstery fabric.  Each has long handles to wear across the body, magnetic snap closures and interior pockets.

It looks great.  Love the colours, and it appears to be really sturdy. Perfect for a tote.  And I love the line from Rent.  Good job.

The directions totally helped me!  Thank you!  The bag is finished and is awaiting embellishment (flowers) and felting!  Will post pics when completed!

I guess it's not truly trianglular, as that really wouldn't be very practical.  Couldn't get anything into it.  Thanks for the feedback.

None taken. Just not sure it was necessary.

I have to say, truly impressive!  Who doesn't want a pink grosgrain wallet?!

Good work on the zipper. I haven't tried it yet ... too scared!  You've inspired me.  Also, love the fabric!
