so this year for Halloween, I had the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. for the Rally to Restore Sanity with John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. I needed a costume that was both easy to travel with, and a made a statement. This is what I came up with! It's an upsidedown tea cup!!!

I'm also pretty excited about the shirt, since it is a "tea shirt"!! yuk yuk yuk!!!

My friends had a black and white party, and this is what i came up with! It's just a garbage bag with newspaper fringe, a dressmaker's measuring tape, and silver duct tape!




 

I did a 1920s dance for my semester project at my art school, and along the way finished some supplimentary pieces of visual art to go with the piece. I came across this great photo of Gloria Swanson in my research and used found objects to recreate the picture in a window pane.

well, i was dreaming last night, and in the dream i came across an idea.

Gorsh. I know halloween was ages ago, but these pictures just made it on to my computer.

so, my friends and i are the dress up queens, so for halloween we decided to dress up like foods. Our veggie dipped, though, so we could no longer represent the food triangle foods. instead we just went as a cluster of edibles.

I made this tie dress for homecoming.. i know it's already been past for months months months.

I went with a friend... her mom said we looked like ebony and ivory...ha!

it's a huge mass of ties, some ribbon for straps, and a poof of faux suede fabric and the buttons are old poker chips!

ugh. this was right after thanksgiving. i can still feel all that veggie stuffing in my belly.

So, this past tuesday was buddy holly's death day. I was pretty depressed as he is one of my greatest idols. To show my immense gratitude, i felt he deserved at least a shirt. Very few people recognized his face, but i tried to educate them on who i feel is the true king of rock and roll.

plus, sorry that one's on it's side...i didn't catch it fast enough... you can even see him in the background on this one!

eesh, my mom has been saving those plastic bag tabs (don't ask me why) and is insisting i make something with them.. she's crazy. any ideas?

I was doing a project for school when I found out the first mascara was made from pig fat and ashes from the fireplace. I thought it was pretty gross, but one day when i couldn't seem to find my mascara, I decided to test out a version of history.

Replacing the pig fat with Vasaline and crushing some ashes up from the fireplace, i created an okay mascara!

It works out really well if the ashes are super fine, otherwise you'll have chunks of crud hanging from your lashes.

oh, and I even checked with my doctor about the safety issues. He said it should really be okay, since Vasaline is Vasaline, and the fire should take care of any gross eww.. yea.
