4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Silk painting supplies - where to go? on: August 19, 2009 09:09:48 AM
I live in the Tacoma ,WA area.  Just wondering where to go to buy silk painting supplies.  Or is it better to buy online?  Any suggestions?  I wasn't sure if my local craft stores (Michael's or Joann) would have them.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Sketch Illustration - "Gabriella and the Dark Fox" on: August 18, 2009 08:39:09 PM
Gabriella's illustration is not as whimsical as Sophie's Choosing Ceremony.  Her story is a little darker and was written by my daughter(it's her favorite illustration so far).  Shocked

The fox is dark in the story, not in the illustration(I may need to add color to this one)

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Sketch/Illustration - "Sophie's Choosing Ceremony" on: August 12, 2009 08:51:02 PM
My daughter and I are collaborating on a story, my doodles turn into illustrations and we write about them, hoping to turn it into a book someday... anyway, here is one of my drawings/doodles/illustrations. Smiley

I won't include the brief story about the 'Choosing Ceremony' that goes with it.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Three Wise Men Wall Hangings on: December 19, 2008 03:47:47 PM
Back in the early 70's my aunt made a trio of these for my mom so I thought I would try to duplicate the pattern. It was all done with felt, craft glue, misc. trim, beads, sequins.  My mom said she thought they originally appeared in Family Circle magazine, if anyone has ever seen them before I would love to hear about it!

Thanks!

Wanted to share this with fellow crafters in Tacoma Area, anyone in the community from beginner to professional can join:

I ran across this article about the Tacoma Art Co-Op in the News Tribune:

http://www.thenewstribune.com/soundlife/story/532709.html

They have supplies, equipment donated by local artists and companies, its $48/yr to join(negotiable for low income) and members can use any of the equipment or free supplies, etc.  Definitely read the article to get more info, they also have a website with all the details:

I think I might put one on my desk at work just to make me smile, my mom already requested I make one for her too Smiley

Thanks for looking!
