1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Grips on: November 07, 2007 02:32:34 PM
My friend is a crocheter and has these neat foam-rubber grips that she puts on her hooks. She's lost her last one and has no idea where to find them. They are almost the entire length of the hook. Any help would be much appreciated.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Vintage yarn- what to make? on: July 22, 2007 07:28:48 PM
Someone at church gave me all of her yarn today. It's "vintage acrylic" (Red heart super saver, brands of acrylic I don't recognize, Caron, etc.) She used it to make scarves and hats for the homeless, and lap blankets for the elderly. I'd like to continue that.

Can anyone recommend any good patterns for hats and scarves (or small blankets) that you really like? I'd like to do something other than miles of garter stitch.

Here is the haul:

For reference, the couch is 66 inches long and the pile of yarn is 12 inches high.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How to cast on in the middle of a project on: June 26, 2007 07:54:09 PM
I am knitting this market bag:

It says to cast on 196 stitches at the end of a row. What kind of cast-on should I use for that?
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Provisional Cast-on question on: May 28, 2007 05:43:07 PM
Okay, so this is probably a really stupid question. For the provisional cast-on (the figure-8 method), does each loop count as a stitch, or is a big loop/little loop counted as a single stitch?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitpicks yarn on: May 27, 2007 09:45:43 AM
I am looking to make some holiday presents (probably scarves) for my son's teachers, and I'd like to use yarn from knitpicks. Are there any yarns that you would not recommend from them? Are there any other nice, but fairly inexpensive wool yarns that you recommend from other brands?
