Plain and simple inside.

So I just whipped up this little sling bag and I'm quite proud of it. I thought I'd share it. It was really quite easy to make and I could try to make a tut if anyone's interested. Comments and critiques welcome.

Here's an excerpt from puzzler's questionnaire:

I'm a total geek, so robots, star trek, computers with faces, that kind of thing is awesome. I also love zakka-style and patchwork.

I love love love gummy-anything, and sticky-chewy candies. I also like salty-sweet stuff, like peanut brittle.

I'm picky about my chocolate, so please don't send that.

Start your crafty New Year with this swap! This swap basically is make your own lucky bag (out of whatever you like) and fill it with crafts supplies, candies/snacks and crafted items. Yes, all 3.

Details of swap:
- This swap requires a minimum of 2 small crafted items (or 1 medium), then go ahead and fill/stuff it with craft supplies and candies/snacks.

I thought of a fukubukuro (lucky grab bag) swap to start off the new year with crafty supplies, candies and random items...

Anyone wanna start up some sort of a Christmas swap yet?

Too many plastic bottles hanging around so...



Plastic bottle lanterns! A breeze to make and they look cute too. All you need is plastic bottles (i like colored ones), some glue, a stapler (optional), scissors and duct tape. Will do a tutorial if anyone is interested.  


First you get your bottle and cut out the smooth bit (usually the part where there is the label).


Cut it out and get a piece like this but don't throw away the rest of the bottle yet!


From the piece you cut out, roughly cut them into 1.5cm strips (you can also cut them more thin or thick depending on your own preferences.). Now cut out other strips(rings) from the rest of your bottle, 2 of 1cm strips(rings) and 2 of 0.5 strips(rings).


Fold your 1.5cm strips into half and fold 0.5cm on each end.


Glue your 1cm strips to form a ring each(once again, the size of the rings depends on you but the bigger the ring, the more strips you need to fill it.)


Apply glue to the 0.5cm tabs.


Glue them to the ring, space them out evenly.


Glue them to the other ring and in this case, I also stapled them after gluing for extra security.


Take the 2 remaining 0.5cm strips, snip a little in the middle (not all the way through!) fold the ends until it fits in the base of the lantern and glue or staple it.


Slot in the second strip where there is the cut and affix it.


Duct tape the top and bottom. I used only a piece of duct tape; I covered the front first then folded it back.


And you are done! You can also fix a chain to it to hang it around. I used a pushpin to poke (and widen) 2 holes in the sides, got a chain, opened one and push it through the holes.

I hope this tutorial is somewhat clear. Feel free to ask me questions.

Now that I made this tutorial I feel like making orange ones for Halloween... hmmm...

I had an urge to crochet and started crocheting a peanut with some fuzzy yarn I found lurking around. And bit by bit, it became my cute little kimono baby. 
I free-formed her and I didn't write down a pattern.. She's 8.5cm(about 3.3inches) and rather easy to make. Just crochet a peanut form, add hands and legs. The kimono is not that difficult to make either. I made it pieces then assembled it. If anyone wants to try making one I'd make some kind of a tutorial. Oh, by the way, she can take off her kimono. I might even make her some other new clothes to wear.. Haha..
