1  Small sling bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by cold.dinner on: April 18, 2012 01:02:58 PM

Full view.

Close-up.

Plain and simple inside.

So I just whipped up this little sling bag and I'm quite proud of it. I thought I'd share it. It was really quite easy to make and I could try to make a tut if anyone's interested. Comments and critiques welcome.  Smiley

2  Re: Fukubukuro 福袋 lucky bag Swap Gallery (Mail by 12/12/2011) in The Swap Gallery by cold.dinner on: January 03, 2012 07:59:44 AM
I received today from sinellia and what a great package it was! I loved everything! Grin She said she should have send more stuff but I think this is a-plenty already! Instead, I think I should have send more stuff.  Embarrassed Sorry for the slightly blurry pics. Only have access to my cellphone right now. Check out the loot:

Out of the bag...

I never thought it was that fun to unwrap items one by one. I should have done the same! The whole loot!
Supplies: Small embroidery hoop, blue fimo, blue yarn(with market tote pattern on the underside) and a really cute little cross-stitch kit.
Snacks: 4 packs of different flavoured yummy chocolates. Popping them while typing this.
Crafted items: Poppy pendant(my fav!), rose ring(super nice details) and cute card wallet.
And of course a nice card.

Closer look at the card wallet.

This is sooooo pretty!

Rose ring!!

Thanks for being a great swap partner!  Grin

3  Re: Scrap Happy Patchwork Swap GALLERY: send by 11/30 in The Swap Gallery by cold.dinner on: December 14, 2011 07:17:10 AM
Alrighty! I got my lovely package from Totallyblank today and Craftster photo hosting is done. So here are the goodies:

The whole pack. 1 scrappy pouch, 1 card/coupon holder, bunch o' candies and 1 cute postcard from Michigan. She also sent me 2 packs of snap buttons and an envelope of fabric scraps, which I consider a kit for making other scrappy pouches. The fabric scraps were in an envelope but I decided to spread them out so you can see better.

My favorite! Too cute! And in my favorite color too!  Grin

In action!

Thank you so much Totallyblank!  Cool

5  Fukubukuro 福袋 lucky bag Swap (Sign-ups 11/08/2011-11/18/2011 Mail by 12/12/2011) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by cold.dinner on: November 07, 2011 09:42:54 AM

According to Wikipedia: Fukubukuro (福袋 lucky bag, mystery bag) is a Japanese New Year's Day custom where merchants make grab bags filled with unknown random contents and sell them for a substantial discount…

Start your crafty New Year with this swap! This swap basically is make your own lucky bag (out of whatever you like) and fill it with crafts supplies, candies/snacks and crafted items. Yes, all 3.

I just realised that it wasn't probably clear but the bag does not count as a small crafted item. Please do take note!

Gallery is up: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=396992.0

Details of swap:
- This swap requires a minimum of 2 small crafted items (or 1 medium), then go ahead and fill/stuff it with craft supplies and candies/snacks.
- If you go by point system, it would be a minimum of 3 point swap (your crafted items are already 2 points so you have to fill the bag with 1 point of supplies and candies).
- Since this a small 3 points swap, you can choose to swap with 2 partners.
- Size of bag: 9 by 7inch with the width of 1inch (approx.)

Swap guidelines/ points:

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Size

-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

6  Plastic bottle lanterns *Now with pic-heavy tutorial* in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cold.dinner on: September 24, 2011 07:31:43 AM
Too many plastic bottles hanging around so...

Plastic bottle lanterns! A breeze to make and they look cute too. All you need is plastic bottles (i like colored ones), some glue, a stapler (optional), scissors and duct tape. Will do a tutorial if anyone is interested.  Smiley

First you get your bottle and cut out the smooth bit (usually the part where there is the label).

Cut it out and get a piece like this but don't throw away the rest of the bottle yet!

From the piece you cut out, roughly cut them into 1.5cm strips (you can also cut them more thin or thick depending on your own preferences.). Now cut out other strips(rings) from the rest of your bottle, 2 of 1cm strips(rings) and 2 of 0.5 strips(rings).

Fold your 1.5cm strips into half and fold 0.5cm on each end.

Glue your 1cm strips to form a ring each(once again, the size of the rings depends on you but the bigger the ring, the more strips you need to fill it.)

Apply glue to the 0.5cm tabs.

Glue them to the ring, space them out evenly.

Glue them to the other ring and in this case, I also stapled them after gluing for extra security.

Take the 2 remaining 0.5cm strips, snip a little in the middle (not all the way through!) fold the ends until it fits in the base of the lantern and glue or staple it.

Slot in the second strip where there is the cut and affix it.

Duct tape the top and bottom. I used only a piece of duct tape; I covered the front first then folded it back.

And you are done! You can also fix a chain to it to hang it around. I used a pushpin to poke (and widen) 2 holes in the sides, got a chain, opened one and push it through the holes.

I hope this tutorial is somewhat clear. Feel free to ask me questions.

Now that I made this tutorial I feel like making orange ones for Halloween... hmmm...

7  cute little kimono baby in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by cold.dinner on: February 12, 2008 10:16:24 AM
I had an urge to crochet and started crocheting a peanut with some fuzzy yarn I found lurking around. And bit by bit, it became my cute little kimono baby.  Grin
I free-formed her and I didn't write down a pattern.. She's 8.5cm(about 3.3inches) and rather easy to make. Just crochet a peanut form, add hands and legs. The kimono is not that difficult to make either. I made it pieces then assembled it. If anyone wants to try making one I'd make some kind of a tutorial. Oh, by the way, she can take off her kimono. I might even make her some other new clothes to wear.. Haha..

Hug me...

Just to show off her obi(obi is the ribbon thing.. not a japanese word for butt)

The front of the kinomo

The back of the kimono

Do you think I should make her some shoes or give her a mouth?
Thanks for looking Smiley  Comments and critiques welcomed.
