1  Fabric flowers brooches/ accessories kanzashi, velvet etc in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Miss*Laurence on: January 21, 2008 04:22:48 AM
Hello!
I made these fabric flowers for an evening dress- it's a great way to match your outfit and use leftover bits of fabrics:
These have Kanzashi petals and a piece of velvet ribbon:

This one has an organza yoyo in the middle and fake leather petals - the circular piece is made of silk cocoon.

I also made a very simple bracelet - it has a sewn-on pressure stud closure

And the handbag's flower is made very simply with the fake leather shapes ( it's great it doesn't fray at all):

Hope it gives you some ideas!

2  Evening dress- satin and organza - with custom bodice pattern! Lots pics in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Miss*Laurence on: January 21, 2008 04:09:30 AM
Hello!!!!!!!!!! Haven't been on crafsters of aaaaaaaaaaaages!! Undecided

Here is my latest sewing project : I made myself an evening dress from scratch, as bought patterns always need this or that changing.

I wanted a dress like that:

First I made myself a model of my own bust using a tee shirt and parcel tape and made my bodice pattern from it:

Like that:

And here is the end result!

The organza layers are just wrapped around - that what if one day I want to try a different organza colour I just need to make that!
I had lots of trouble trying to sort the edges of the organza over skirt though but in the end I opted for cinging the edges with my craft soldering iron :

The flowers are not sewn on directly, just pinned into place with safety pins, so I can re-use them on another outfit or move them where ever! Grin

I also made a matching small handbag:

and barcelet:

Altogether I am really pleased because for once the bodice actually fitted me properly!! Grin Grin

I received Mclianne's parcel today, it was full of sunshire:

The bag is perfect,
there is loads of yellow fabrics, I especially love the sunflowers,
a coordinated writing set
some brush/pens I've always wanted to have!!! (I tried them right away as you can see)
Foam stamps I can't wait to use and
Loads of pictures of flowers from her garden, which is just brilliant!

And I even hear that this is only part of my swap as the parcel was too heavy to send in one envelope!
Thank you ever so much for your efforts and these brilliant fabrics McLianne! Grin Grin Grin Grin

*NOW* I amd also a bit concerned as I have sent both my parcels on Monday last week, and nothing has been received so far. Sad I hope everything is OK, I'm a bit on edge about this. Mini & Mclianne Let me know asap when you receive even if you haven't got a picture to post yet. Thanks.

Hello!
I was wondering how you crafsters keep your sourcematerials for later?  Smiley
Do you only use digital?
Do you keep written notes?
Do you keep drawings or paintings?
Do you have a treasure box?

I keep paper images in my scraps sourcebooks and do a lot of Doodles...
