So, a good friend has a bag that my brother freehanded an octopus on in ink pen. I am not sure what kind of pen it was except that it does smudge when it gets wet. The bag is leather and the octopus is under a flap so it is kept pretty well protected. However, my brother recently passed away and said friend is desperate to make sure nothing happens to the drawing.
My question - how can he preserve the drawing without smudging it? I recently saw a leather sealant but since it is water based I am afraid the image will bleed or smudge.
I am obsessed with this Heather Bailey fabric and couldn't resist making a quilt out of some
Super simple design - just strips cut into 14.5" squares. I quilted it on my new Janome Memory Craft and it made things so super easy. My husband is 6'2" and holding it above his head in the pictures just to give you an idea of size. I think it is 54" wide and 78" tall.
My son has tons of little plastic toys that I am always falling over. I usually keep everything in bins but one of his favorite activities is to go to the shelves and turn every bin upside down leaving a huge mess. Since we are putting out house on the market I was trying to come up with something that would keep little toys together but be easy to put away quickly for showings.
Very simple design, just some clear vinyl and pretty fabric, webbing handle and velcro closure that is easy enough for my 2 year old to open and close. Super quick to make as well!
The image is from Feeling Stitchy's March stitch along. Love it!!
I am not much of an embroider-er but I really like how this came out. The pictures are a little more muted than IRL. The fabric isn't isn't overbearing as it appears, I apparently need to learn to use my camera a little better
I am in love with this cute bag! I adore how the sides tie up and then can untie to expand. It was way more time consuming than I expected so I'm sorry about the terrible lighting for pictures - it was super late!
Front - I had never used the triple stitch on my sewing machine and now it is my new favorite! Look how nice and thick the quilting lines are!! TMB side 1 by mimiwilborn, on Flickr
Inside with a few stray threads (and where you can see that I cheated and machine sewed the binding rather than do it by hand): TMB inside by mimiwilborn, on Flickr
I have been wanting to make a new case for these ever since I got them so I finally got around to it! Super simple pouch and small enough that I can toss it in my small knitting project bag.
There are 8 needle tip pockets and 2 regular pockets. Closed, the entire thing is a little bigger than the palm of my hand.
These were inspired by the current cover of Stitch magazine. We have needed new throw pillows for our sofa since we got it and I finally got motivated! They are a mixture of hand embroidery and free motion quilting and made with a mixture of wool felt and ecofelt.
And a group shot - there is actually 1 more that didn't make the picture. It is very similar to the linen one with the large circles except it is green corduroy.
I also made this for the wall art swap Simple free motion quilting in the clouds and "hills" with hand embroidered bird and flowers. I really like the way this one came out.
I made these for the wall art swap. My partner has a niece whose nursery theme is live, laugh, love. They are a mixture of hand embroidery and free motion quilting with patchwork binding. Each one measures about 14" x 16"
I made this simple embroidery for DH for Valentine's Day. We both have a fixation with trees so I thought it was fitting. Inspired by the one featured on craft gossip a few weeks ago.
