i too made the bikini top, but i wound up making it in kitchen cotton.  i had leftovers from a bag i made and decided to give it a try since it fit the gauge description.  it's been in the water as well and held up fine.  not to mention that even if i had bought the yarn just for this project it would have cost me three bucks.  i'm considering making the bottoms too, since i still have plenty of leftovers in all three colors.
