1  Re: From My Stash Swap ~ Gallery ~ in The Swap Gallery by IntrepidYarn on: November 20, 2007 06:14:28 AM
OK, I'm finally posting what I've received from Samsara last week :

Thank you for everything, Samsara ! As you can see, the skirt fits really well and the lovely hook roll is already in use.

Ok, Picklesticks said I could post pictures of what she received (it's quite difficult for her to do that at the moment), so here's what I sent her :

Some yarn from the other end of the world...

A needle roll with the Anlh-Morpork Knitter's Guild Motto :
"Favete Linguis, ego numero" : "Shut up, I'm counting" (made by a Ravelry member, the only payment she asks is a donation to Knitters Without Borders)

The interfacing fabric for the needle roll

A mini lady luggage, with needlefelted feet :

And her own Nac Mc Feegle to put in her bag when she goes out, a silk/mohair swatch with needlefelting :

Plus a NcMcFeegle on a bookmark, which I forgot to photograph and remembered when the package was sealed.
And a pouch retracing the journey of A'Tuin (finally, the mystery is solved !) drawn by the Bursar (hm, well, the mystery remains after all).

She wanted useful things that did not take much space, ie pouches, so most things are useful and tend to be flat.
Apologies for the poor quality pf pics !

And now, the pics of what Picklesticks sent me !

unseen university stamps, and the wrapping of...

Witchy stationery ! I can already think of a use for it Smiley

An Errol pouch was there too, and it contained

Death badges, a Great A'Tuin badge, a Granny Weatherwax badge.

And finally, the four elephants supporting the Discworld !

On top of it, some gorgeous handspun yarn,

Thank you Picklesticks, for this beautiful package and for being a great swap partner !

Here is the great package I've received from Yarnisfun :
the card...

the goodie bag containing it all...

Bill and Bob Pumpkin Head, and the good witch Zoey.

I've been spoilt rotten ! Thank you, Yarnisfun !

And the goodies ! Ribbon, buttons, sequins, candy (not all of it, some was eaten before taking the pic)

Now that my partner's received, I can show a bit of my creature...

She's a mermaid with a needlefelted top. I didn't even know how to needlefelt but niftyknitter's Dobby inspired me.

6  First needlepoint FO : a mermaid [IMG HEAVY] in Felting: Completed Projects by IntrepidYarn on: September 24, 2007 02:42:30 AM
This is the creature I've done for the Care of Magical Creatures swap : a mermaid. I was going to crochet the top but after seeing Niftyknitter's Dobby, I had to learn needlepoint felting, which is a great way to work volumes.
(These photos aren't in the gallery because my swap partner wanted to photograph the creature and as she's a photographer, her pics will look better than mine. I just wanted to brag here  Grin)

Here it is :

She is holding a bag containing her steals, at present a pair of shoes :

And a pic of her back and her hair :

Thanks for looking !

And out of Romania came...

Wyrmo !
Charlie Weasley had enclosed a note, saying that this Mexican dragon would feel better here than in Eastern Europe. But Wyrmo menaced me with his ferocious teeth...

Well, he just felt nervous in his new home, I guess. Now he's settled on the chair and grumbling nicely. He especially likes to be scratched on his lovely spine, looking out of the window and thinking of new skies to explore.

The details are great and I love this critter ! Thank you, Phantomssiren !

9  Re: Fitted Knits-along ? in Knitalongs by IntrepidYarn on: August 04, 2007 05:01:54 AM
> Roxybritain : using a separate ball of yarn to work the sleeves is what I'd do, leaving a long tail to mend the little hole that always subsists in a top-down knit under the armhole (or is it me ?)

And here is an "almost-done" pic of my puff-sleeved cardigan:

Shot at 2007-08-04

Now looking forward to the Bluebell sweater and the Back-to-school vest.

10  Pouch from a Japanese pattern book in Crochet: Completed Projects by IntrepidYarn on: August 04, 2007 03:52:02 AM
This was an easy, one-skein project, made entirely by looking at the diagrams in a Japanese book. I'm still getting over how easy it is to crochet lace as opposed to knitting it.
