11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Does this say spring?? on: February 26, 2009 06:07:53 PM
We are headed to FL next week to visit family and Disney of course and I was going to buy a new bag but decided to make one instead after I saw this pretty color combo at the local quilter shop.

Here's my spring-y hobo bag!

Inside with pocket and clasp

((by the way MOST EXPENSIVE fabric I've ever used for a bag!))

I used runnermom's tut found here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=125025.0 I already had the pattern but liked her version better! I kept the tie version though
12  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Blender question on: February 25, 2009 01:41:30 PM
I have been trying to make an at home version of the Dunkin Donuts Coffee Coolata which I found a good recipe for. But my question is how do you blend the ice without it getting all frothy like?? I can never get the consistency right, mine always comes out foamy.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?? PLEASE HELP! Thanks
13  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / New sweet baby! Hair?? on: November 27, 2008 12:55:29 PM
Haven't posted much in awhile, but figured I would share the new baby. She is about 14in tall, DH said to embroider her face but I painted instead b/c I'm  not that great at embroidery. Her dress is lined and has an applique & matching bloomers. She has fleece overalls that zip, a shirt and a hat for now. I am not sure how to do the hair, the book I have gives a how to on looping-but not sure about it.

she has on baby socks b/c I was afraid of her getting dirty.

the book I used was The Woman's Day Book of soft toys and dolls by Joan Rusell --loaner from the library--looking on ebay to buy!

DO you like??
Any suggestions for her hair, yes, no or how to??
14  COOKING / Dessert / Any candy makers out there?? on: November 20, 2008 01:54:03 PM
I made this recipe for peanut brittle http://homesicktexan.blogspot.com/2008/06/dr-pepper-and-peanuts.html
It came out very good, I did add 1/2 tsp of cinnamon also. Allthough the blogger said it would be like praline, I really want the brittle texture, more hard & crunchy. Does anyone know how I can alter this a bit to achive that?

Thanks

And I really know nothing about making candy. I don't have a candy thermometer so I boiled it til the whole thing looked like it was boiling. I am going to pick up a thermometer this weekend. Perhaps just reaching a higher temp?
15  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Raccoon pattern?? on: November 06, 2008 10:46:50 AM
My DS 2 wants a raccoon and I would like to make one, anyone know of a raccoon pattern, or something that I could alter a little??
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Coat pattern close to this? on: November 03, 2008 02:29:00 PM
I have not bought or worn a winter coat in ages.........and decided I need one this year. So I haven't been able to find any I like. Did some googling and found this one on someones blog......it's an LL Bean but I think it must be last years b/c I can't find it.

So my question is does anyone know of a pattern that would look close to this and I could just make it??

Thanks!
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Driving hat HERE IT IS on: October 16, 2008 05:46:33 PM
Ivy cap, driving cap, golf cap, scally cap or flat hat, whatever you would like to call it. I promised awhile back I would get this posted but of course the printer broke. But it is now done, I will get the pdf for the pattern pieces and tutorial posted on my blog as soon as DH gets home to help me.

Anyways here it is, it's plain tan with a black snap on the brim. It's actually camo canvas on the inside. Wink

It fits my older DS who is about 21.5 in head but he was outside. He wants to paint something on the top of it  Huh
18  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / eggroll question?? on: October 12, 2008 04:04:56 PM
I just made a batch of egg rolls and wanted to know if anyone else does and if so how do you freeze and reheat them?

thanks Chantal
19  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / They were supposed to be "Susette" sash pants on: September 30, 2008 06:08:57 PM
Without writting a book on how these did not go wrong, just assume it did, and well it did.

I had to last minute add some length to the bottom b/c she didn't like them short. so yea they probably look a little screwy. My DD picked that green flower fabric out for a doll (still cut out not sewn) and she insisted that's what we use for the sash. I'm not thrilled with the bulkyness of the waist/crotch area. The pink was a yard or so and I didn't realize it faded like that til I opened it out to cut.

without the sash.

I'd like to toss them in the garbage but she likes them  Angry . I think when I get new blades for my serger this weekend I will fix the insides b/c they are horrible!

20  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Barbie & Carebear shirts gets a do over on: September 23, 2008 02:08:21 PM
I've had this barbie shirt for awhile and DH cringed at the thought of me wearing it. DD wanted it, so I finally got to work. I took it in, added some stripey arms which were an old pair of her tights and roll hemmed everything else.

And this gray carebear shirt, she found at the thrift shop and asked if I could make it for her. It was supposed to have the cap sleeves but they got wrecked in the re-make. The bottom and sleeve ends are serged inside out-originally by mistake but I went with it.

Yes she is into the crazy posing stage & they are both nightgowns so I wasn't really worried about making them perfect
