611  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / stud earring findings with ball end on: April 19, 2007 08:56:36 PM
I'm having trouble finding findings for stud earrings with *gluing pads* that are both sterling silver and don't break the bank. But I am finding affordable sterling stud findings with a ball on the end. They look like really plain earrings, not findings. What's the deal with that? Why is there a ball? How is anything supposed to get secured to that? I mean, it's round. Is it supposed to be melted and flattened? *Can* it be melted? The hottest thing I have is a soldering iron for electronics, but silver is soft, so do you guys think I can melt it flat with that? Thanks!
612  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Re: A small victory--a wee kiwi cane on: April 17, 2007 12:45:54 AM
Wow! Peeled already too, ready to eat. Great job!

The earrings look so lovely! I really like how the rose is the same color as the frosting. I wouldn't think that would work, but it does! And the ribbon is a nice choice for the necklace, given how it's such a soft, delicate color. I agree, they shouldn't be split up. Make matching earrings for your friend, too, it'll be 10x better! Delish! The varnish really adds the final touch. Out of curiousity, what does everyone do with their mini-foods? Rings? Earrings? Bracelets with 20 different charms? Hair clips? I want to try it, but I don't want to have just another thing to put on the shelf...
615  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / where to buy colorful plastic hair comb blanks? on: April 14, 2007 07:16:45 PM
I want to make some hair accessories by attaching flowers I make to hair combs, like the yellow one to the left in this picture:

http://i21.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/92/dd/5f22_1.JPG (can't post pictures yet, sorry)

Problem is, that particular set is vintage, so there is no more, and it would cost almost $30 after shipping from the UK  Shocked

Does anyone know where I can get colorful hair combs like that one? I've scoured eBay and Google, and the best I found is a $10 set of 10, but only 4 are in pretty colors. I want fun, ice cream colors. Any ideas where to get them?
616  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / next week, Joann has 50% off coupon on: April 13, 2007 02:40:21 PM
Actually, it's 2 coupons, one for Apr 15-19, and one for Apr 20-21. There's some other decent sales, too, like open stock scrapbooking paper 6 for $1. Can't wait to print a whole page of coupons and stock up! Smiley
