Planet Bead on Milwaukee Street right downtown seems to have a good yarn selection, with some very fancy-looking stuff. I've only today bought my first crochet kit, so I couldn't tell you much more than that, but as I learn more...well, anyway. Also, i thought i saw a sign on KK in Bayview of a knitting store opening up, looked like a hip-speciatly store kind of thing. Can't for the life of me remember the name!

The only thift store I go to regularly right now is Value Village on North. I've gotten some good clothing there, a like-new esspresso machine for 3$, and they have a great selection of wierd records. I was sad to see the SalVal on Prospect close, not to mention all the resale that used to be on Greenfield. Why are they all closing? And is it related to all the used bookstores that have closed too? I know, I know, getting off topic.... Angry

I'm in Milwaukee, by way of Madison, so I can bond on a few levels...Anyhoo, I know the Foundation Bar had a Stich 'N Bitch club for awhile, don't know if it still exists...I've been wondering why noone's started a local Church of Craft yet...also, there are many local art/craft shows to enter, like Jimmy von Milwaukee's Xmas show at the Uptowner, and the Beauty benfit at Turner Hall had a huge section of people selling handmade stuff. Ummm...can't think of any others this mintue, but I'll get back ta ya...

15  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Beads from a car seat cover on: February 04, 2004 07:24:36 AM
I've got a busted beaded car seat cover from a friend. The beads are all about a half inch long, flatish (not perfectly round) and are either dark or light brown. Now my first thought was making a beaded curtain, but now i'm thinking painting them and making key chains. i'd have so damn many, i could sell them! Any ideas on how i can string these beads into keychains? thanks!
