22  custom recycled (reconstructed) pants... in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by paxye on: March 27, 2008 12:22:11 PM
Because of my son's weird shape finding pants that fit has been a task to say the least

I knew I could make some but I was a bit scared of patterns but I finally decided to try however just like pants dont fit patterns dont fit

so I found a pattern that I had bought at the thrift store and like I get the general idea from a recipe I got the general idea from the pattern and made my own

Because I didnt know how it would turn out I used an old pair of DHs pants for the material I am pretty happy at how they turned out and they fit him so well and look so comfortable!

23  My new Sewing area.... (img heavy) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by paxye on: March 10, 2008 06:32:56 PM
My sewing area was pretty small for the work that I was doing and I was feeling a bit cramped so I decided that I needed to revamp it a bit

So I have been keeping my eye on tables on Kijiji and looking for other ways to organize. Then on the weekend I went to Zellers to pick up a few things and saw a demo Table on sale it had a few scratches but for 200$ off... at only 50$ it was so worth it
So I got it into the van did the grocery shopping and then went to the hardware store and picked up a peg board (or half of one because they sell them 4X8) and then got home and went to work.

So In all I spent about 90$ (with that little container with drawers to store things in)

Here is before

and now...

and even a place for my Zune...

and here is my fabric and some of my vintage toys...

24  Pouding Chomeur (poor man's pudding) in Dessert by paxye on: September 25, 2007 08:31:43 AM

This is a traditional french-Canadian dessert that was made during the depression era the ingredients are simple and were cheap and it is one of those staple desserts in french-canadian homes

(yes it is full of sugar but OH so good)

Cake:

    * 1 1/2 cup flour
    * 1 tsp baking powder
    * 1/4 cup butter
    * 1 cup sugar
    * 1 cup milk
    * 1 tsp vanilla

Sauce

    * 3/4 cup Maple Syrup
    * 1 cup Brown Sugar
    * 1 cup boiling water
    * 1/4 cup butter

In a bowl sift flour and baking powder together in another bowl, cream butter and sugar and add vanilla then slowly add the milk and flour in alternating 1/4 cup increments until all together and smooth spread in a buttered baking dish

for the sauce in a sauce pan, mix all the sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil boil for a few seconds and then pour over the cake batter (do not mix)

bake in a 325 preheated oven for 45 min

28  my first shirts! (update post 4) in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by paxye on: May 07, 2007 05:03:12 PM
ok... this was my test shirt just to practice putting things together etc (no pattern)... the fabric is a bit stiff (it was cheap and I bought it to practice with) and it makes me look a bit pregnant from the side... so I don't know if I am going to try to fix it a bit so I can wear it or what...
anyway... here it is...

And then I had enough confidence to make this one... which I am pretty happy with... I was about to make it about the same style but didn't have anymore of the same elastic... So... I got out the elastic thread and shirred it... I didn't know how to shirr but it worked...

Now I am thinking about shirring the bodice part of the first shirt to see if that looks better...

29  Apron skirt in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by paxye on: April 21, 2007 04:19:22 PM
I still have to tweak it a bit cause it is a bit too big and a bit too long (I rolled it up for the pic) but I am really happy with it... and with the mushroom applique...

the colours are a bit off in this pic
