I loved your idea of using the iron-on vinyl, so I tried it. I can't see a very close up picture of your bag, but did you have any issues with the fabric not looking smooth under the vinyl after ironing?  I was hoping to do this to give more body to some quilting fabric, but it looks a bit messy. My ironing board is not deeply padded by I am wondering if you need to press it like on metal. Also, I pressed the heavy weight fusible interfacing to the back.

Any tips on getting the fabric and vinyl looking smooth? TIA.

i did the same thing - using iron-on interfacing, too. the best advice i can give you is iron a lot (on the vinyl side, not the back). move the paper around a lot, too. also, make sure your iron is very, very hot (no steam, through). i can post close-up images if you want. hope that helps!

thank you. the more i do, the more i want to get making more bags too.  it closes with a 20" zipper. i'm quite surprised at how good i got the zipper in.. i'm going to get fabric paint for it and i have gems to put on it from that gem magic machine they've advertised on t.v. Smiley  would love to see your finished product.

you have to check out target sale section. they have great placemats. and pottery barn! i saw some there recently i wanted, but wasn't sure what i'd do with them (not a placemat-on-the-table fan). now, i know! thanks for the inspiration!!

btw - the bedazzler isn't that great. it's short so you can't get deep into a bag (think the shape of a stapler). there are some other tools out there that may be better - i just use a flathead screw driver.
