1  Meet My Brother! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: October 20, 2009 03:07:33 PM

My brother's long time girlfriend moved 3 hours away to college this fall.  She's been really missing my bro.  I decided I'd be nice, and even though he's not as good as the real thing, make a mini version of my brother for her when she misses him the most!

Here's the real deal

So what do you think??

The thing I'm most disappointed in is his hair!  I'll need to figure out a better way to do amigurumi hair and facial hair.  I just don't like having all the loops showing. KWIM  Maybe I'll have a bit more time next time.  I have a few projects that need to be done by a certain time, but I wanted to hurry up and do this first.  Anyway, how do you like my bro!

2  What Is THAT On The Back Of My Couch! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: August 27, 2009 12:29:37 PM
Egads, it's bright and colorful!

At least it seems pretty friendly!

My first freehand amigurumi!!  I'm pretty proud of the cute little guy! BTW, he's supposed to be a bug.  I made him from my baby girl, we always call her Catey Bug, so I figured a bug was perfect for her!  Here she is loving her new companion!

3  Pricing This Purse!? in Get Product and Website Opinions by blockhead24 on: July 18, 2008 02:10:27 PM
I made this purse/small diaper bag last night and plan on making many more to add to my website.  I'm wondering how much I should charge for it and others just like it?  I was told anywhere from 15 - 30 bucks.  What do you all think?

Big enough to fit a travel wipes case and at least 2 diapers!

Thank you for your help!

4  My First Purse!!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by blockhead24 on: July 17, 2008 07:52:20 PM
I have no clue what to call it, but I think I did pretty good!  I saw some girls at the zoo with purses like this and thought they were so cute.  My friend told me they were Vera Bradley's, and go for like 50 bucks!  I looked them up and was like "I can make that!!!"  And so I did!  What do you think?!

Able to fit a travel wipes container and at least 2 diapers!!

Thanks for looking!

5  CrAzY Mini Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: June 02, 2008 09:28:18 AM
So when I was very first interested in quilting, I looked on eBay and thought how cool it was that I could buy precut quilting squares for what i thought was cheap.  I quickly learned how much of a rip off this was and I also learned 40 - 4" squares doesn't get you a very big quilt at all.  I got idea to make a mini quilt because I didn't have enough materials (obviously) and because this fabric was too cute not to use.  So here's my crazy quilt.  About 25"x25" and completely machine quilted and binded!

Pics with front and back contrast

Thanks for looking!

6  My 1st (Practice) Quilt! in Quilting: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: August 04, 2007 06:31:57 PM
I am so excited!  I finished my first quilt last night!  Well it was a practice one so it's only 21 in by 21 in.  So its not big but it was enough to give me a general idea of what to do, what not to do, etc etc etc.  I am so proud of it, even though it is not the straightest, doesn't have the straightest lines, etc, I am happy I did it!  Mostly because I felt intimidated by quilting!  Now I'm ready to make more!  But anyway, here it is!

7  1st Children's Clothing Recon (Dress) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: July 28, 2007 01:34:15 PM
Ok, I've done like 2 other recons... a pillow case to skirt and a shirt that didn't turn out so good.  I was determined to make another recon work!  I had this cute Strawberry Short Cake shirt that didn't fit me anymore.  I decided to make it into a cute Strawberry Short Cake dress for my 2 year old.  Only took me a day (not even) to make and now my 2 year old refused to take it off.  She loves it!  What do you think!?!

After (Notice my model loves it!)

Then she got silly (Back)

Front again, with design!  (Notice the "I'm ready to go play" look)

8  For Plus Size or Pregnant Women, a Pillow Case Skirt using 2 cases! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by blockhead24 on: July 25, 2007 06:17:05 PM
Ok, I know there have been a lot of pillow cases to skirts reconstructions.  All of which look really cute on all you skinny little girls!  Well I wanted to make one too, but to my disgust, when I cut the top off my pillow case to see how I needed to modify it, the pillow case wouldn't even go all the way up.  I did not get discouraged though.  I luckily had another pillow case exactly the same.  So this is my 2 pillow case skirt.  It's excellent for the bigger women or pregnant women.. me, well I am both bigger and 5 months pregnant!  The best part is I made the top draw string so I can adjust it as my belly grows and shrinks!  What do you think!?

*Don't mind the ankle, it's not the new style or anything (although I guess it could be), I messed up my ankle and have to wear that for now!

9  Small First Quilt (Unfinished) in Quilting: Completed Projects by blockhead24 on: March 31, 2007 11:19:45 AM
I started my first quilt.. more of a practice quilt to make sure I could do it!  It's just a top, I still need to get batting and backing to finish it.  I know its not perfect, but this little 2 ft x 2 ft square has shown me quite a bit already!  And I am now really excited to get the sandwich done and work on a lap quilt!
