Here is my first try at a zippered lined pouch. I made it with left over fabric from a tote bag I made my sister for school.

195  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / how to make an applique? on: January 15, 2008 01:18:07 PM
I would like to make an applique to add to a bag that I made.  Does the sewing machine have to have a specific stitch to go around the border of it?  Does there happen to be a tutorial anywhere on how to make them?

I made this last night.  The fabric has lots of appliques on it (it came that way).  I used two layers of fusible interfacing and made a pocket and 3 pen holders.  I like how it turned out, it's big but not huge and still holds all my school stuff.

cute bag.  I love the embroidered initial.  It looks really cute against the applique and the fabric.  Lucky daughter. Smiley

GORGEOUS!  I love the applique and the lining. It contrasts beautifully.

How does the inside look?  is the octopus an applique?  I really like the look of the bag.  I am in love with totes lately. Smiley
