21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Mug Rug to learn some quilting basics on: September 02, 2014 11:22:40 PM
My machine is a Husqvarna Viking e20.
So not specialised for quilting, but does drop feed dogs and did come with a couple feet for quilting 1/4" and darning foot.
22   / REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Re: RRR Craftalong-Scrap fabric cards on: September 02, 2014 06:35:53 AM
As part of my personal destashing goals, I decided that I am going to do a scrap project each week.  Scrap yarn, scrap fabric, scrap papers, etc.

Here is my project for 9/1:

I started with scraps left over from cutting out quilt pieces and some old recipe card stock I found in my Mom's basement:

I glue and sewed the scraps on the cards to make these:

I then used my heart stencils to cut out hearts. Glued them on and used a mix of glitter and glue to go around the edges....ta da--much needed notecards for swaps! Grin

I still have tons of scraps so I will be on the hunt for more easy and fun projects!

Thanks for looking!

Love these.

Hi Kookie hope you're well.

Me too, that's why I opted for the stencil. Made it so much easier, but not sure I could be bothered with this on a big quilt.

I'm hoping by the time I do a big quilt I'll have improved on the fmq.

My questionnaire has been sent in. This is my first swap this year and I have a new sewing machine that I really want to play with.
Hope there are a few sewn items on people's list.

Better get working on a list now.

Looking forward to getting started.

I invested in a new sewing machine so I could quilt. Decided to dip toes in and start small. A mug rug.

Far from perfect, but I did learn loads and I do like it.
Awaiting the arrival of some wadding so I can make more.

My package from Canada finally arrived.

Firstly I must say that I love it so will my kids and my cats  Grin

1. Something Local - Candy
Always love to get Candy from around the world and Looks like I've got a fab selection here.

2. Something Green - "What's Greener than a Forest Spirit like totoro?"
Big Studio Ghibli fans here, so yeah nothing greener  Grin Isn't he adorable?

3. Something Recycled - T-shirt yarn.
Love it and the colours are great. I'm thinking, I'll turn it into one of those really long crochet chain scarves.

4. Something hard - Ceramic Tools.
Fab - can never have too many. This gives me a nice set for home.

5. Something funny - Catnip Bunnies for my Cats
The reaction of polly was definitely funny, rolling all over the bed with it and growling at the other cats.  Grin

6. Something M - Mitered Dish towel
Lovely and in my kitchen colours too. Great job.

7. Something dotted - Earbud holder
This is one from my pinterest. My DD likse ear buds, but she's always mislaying them. This should help and it's so cute.

8. Sender's choice - Sock yarn
Gorgeous Skein. I love the colors and I'm thinking some really cute fingerless gloves would look great made with this yarn.

Plus I got some tea, a Toronto magnet and a Canada sticker.

Fabulous package, well worth the wait. THANK YOU!!!
