2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / 8bit Mario Quilted pillow on: May 06, 2007 01:02:49 PM
i took a short break from my 1up mushroom quilt ( see: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=168505.0 ) so i could make a mario pillow. i made it so it's 1" squares finished. i was a little disappointed that it reads poorly up close, but its still a bit of geek pride.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mini Kilt on: May 06, 2007 11:54:25 AM
I have been wanting to make a mini kilt for many years now, and i finaly got up the nerve to noodle out how to do it. I started with a rought guide, just to make sure the patter for the waist would fall properly:

my 2nd one tried out how the pleating would work.

i took it on a test run our volvo club track day up at thunderhill, while pleased with the boy response, i was far more disappointed in how the pleating held

my thoughts for my next one is to make the pleats much deeper so when i tack them up top it will catch the one before, which i have a feeling that is what i should have done in the first place.  and then starch it up the wazoo... anyone have a good brand of starch they like useing?
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / 1up mushroom baby quilt on: May 04, 2007 01:00:34 PM
My friends are having a baby and it kick started me into a whirl wind of crafting. I wanted something geeky yet classic. i had seen this idea around the web and thought it a good place to start and customized. except to make it baby quilt sized the squares are 1" .....this was my first quilt....oh and for the quilting part.. a drunken sailor walks a straighter line on land than i did following the square edges. *shame* .. the baby is a girl, but i didn't know that when i started making it, so i choose blue because the Daddy is a huge fan of blue so thats is what i did.
