1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Baby Hat and Blanket on: November 09, 2011 11:02:19 PM
This is pretty!

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how it turned out... if only I had a baby girl of my own to keep it for!

The yarn I used for the blanket were Caron Simply Soft in Melon, Sunshine, and Light Country Peach.

The hat is made of Melon and Sunshine, but I had to use double strands in order to get the gauge right.

I did use a pattern for the hat, but just the base. I purchased the Sleeping Owl pattern from this shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/prolesik), and then I opted to use a flower motif that I really like instead of the owl face for this one.

The shop is amazing, and has tons of really cute hats, and most of them use the same base pattern, which comes with multiple sizes.

So, really, if you're creative enough with coming up with your own decorative stuff, you could just buy one pattern and come up with the rest on your own.

So... is it a rule that when you turn 24/25 suddenly you're surrounded with tiny people? Or is that just me?

Anyway, I love making things for people, and I've found that I really enjoy making baby blankets and hats... they're quick, easy projects, and they're just too cute Smiley

Yay! I'm so glad that you liked everything you got! I had so much fun making everything!

And I'm glad you liked your cards! I saw that you had added the ones on Etsy to your favorite list, and I've always thought they were cute, so I figured I would make a similar set for you. I'm so happy you like how they turned out Cheesy

Awesome package!  I really like the colour of the Patons yarn.

Me too! The mustard yellow color is one of my favorites Smiley

Hey, hey, hey! Picture time!

Now... I should warn you all.... I was way too excited when I got my package, so I unwound my yarn ball without taking a picture of it all wound up. I just couldn't contain myself!

The wonderful MizzKodak sent me all of these lovelies:

In this first picture, we have:
A lovely note Smiley
3 skiens of Caron Simply Soft in Melon (I started a project with this yarn and then couldn't find it when I ran out... MizzKodak came to my rescue with yarn from her stash!)
1 skein of Patons Classic Wool- This is what my MYB was wound with Smiley
2 crochet face scrubbies
A bird note pad that comes inside a little book
Assorted Buttons
A green glittery bird clip

I also recieved:
A hair comb
Crochet Doily
Gold Trim
Two hand carved stamps
Stamp Pad
Bird Stickers
A lace necklace
Lovely Pearl Earrings

And finally:
A hand stamped tea towel

This picture also shows the Patons yarn again, along with the pattern she picked for me.

Everything she gave me was really lovely, and she should be getting her package later this week!

Thanks again, MizzKodak!!!

I'm the first to receive, from the lovely Mrs Zombie_Queen. But I haven't even really started on hers yet so I won't open until I am at least mostly done with hers. So you guys get to wait, haha. But so do I. There has been another receiver, though, so hopefully we'll get to see someone's goodies soon.

GIRL! You have more will power than me! I got mine today too, and I opened that puppy up the first chance I got! I'm planning to take pictures and post them tomorrow Cheesy

I have almost all the crafts for MizzKodak done to go in it, though, and I already picked a pattern, I just have to buy the yarn.... so I didn't really feel like I cheated.... I didn't really let opening it affect what I put in it Smiley

Well, then I would imagine it would be ok, then...

Also, this conversation is getting me very excited! Depending on my partner and our budget, I may end up going to check out some of the local yarn stores in our area... I've been wanting an excuse to go for a while now Cheesy
