We went camping this past weekend with a bunch of friends and all of our young children.  I thought this would be fun to take along:

I know I'm not the first to do this, but it sure was fun!  The kids liked it, and we all ate the watermelon from inside.

So, I bought a couple of cheap placemats at Big Lots to make re-useable Ziploc bags ala http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=342887.0.

I cut up half of the placemat and was left with this:

I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd seen those cheese graters before.  They just looked...tooo...fam iliar...somehow.
It's because they are Daleks!  Aaaaahhhhhh!

My Hubby has been a Dr. Who fan since forever.  I just started this year.  (I am soooo sad to have missed the David Tennant years!)  He really likes the new logo, so I made this for his birthday.  It is a freezer paper stencil, of course, painted with acrylic paints.

To begin with, here is the finished product:  Pretty nice you might say.  How hard could that be, you ask.

Okay, you know how you have a brilliant idea at 2 am and then can't wait to get to it the next day?  Well, this purse was like that for me.  I wanted to have a stylish, cross-over purse, kinda like the front of a dress.  I also just used bias tape for the 1st time the day before, so I knew I wanted that on the purse.  So, I went fabric shopping and came up with a gorgeous retro floral, with a deep green as a lining.  So, I started. 

I wanted the lining to look pretty on the inside, so I started sewing the lining inside-out.  And made some pockets.

Then I started sewing the shell wrong-side out so those seams wouldn't show.  Then, I tried to put them together.  That is where the doom started.  It turned out to be a topological nightmare.  It was like a Mobius strip.  Every outside was also an inside!  ARRRGGHH!  Miserable.  I took most of it apart and then sewed it by hand while watching Anthony Bourdain.  That at least made it a little better.  Here's a shot of the inside.

So, to sum-up:  This purse would've been better as a dress top.  It was very difficult, even though I really like the looks of it.  Also I don't know what to do about the top, whether to leave it open, or add a clasp.  Not ready for that yet. Wow, that was a long story.

I am a a little embarassed to say that this little thing has been sitting unfinished in my to-do pile for about a year and a half.  All I needed to do was the white parts, but was avoiding it because it hurts my eyes to sew white thread. 

Anyway, here is a tiny Pingu, about 3-4 inches tall.  I don't know what to do with him.  I was thinking of making it into a patch for my backpack.  The picture came from an online coloring pages site.  I don't remember where.

This is my first post over here in MoreArt,LessCraft.  I am definitely more of a crafter, but I don't suck at drawing either, I guess.

I drew this last week, and then the place I work for was having a silent auction to raise funds, so I gave it to them.  It made $45, which isn't bad!

So, I had been working and eating lunch with a co-worker/friend for about 10 months.  We went out for drinks/apps one afternoon and I ordered a tapa with Prosciutto on it.  I offered it to my friend who said, "I don't eat meat."  I said to her, "You're not a Vegetarian!!".  She laughed and laughed at me, b/c of course she was, except that I hadn't noticed the entire time we had been eating our lunches together.  It was her birthday yesterday, so I whipped this up the night before to be her birthday present.  She loved it. 

It's not exactly a masterpiece, but the story behind it is funny to us.  (The carrot is, of course, from Sublime Stitching.)  So, without further ado:

This was just too easy not to share.  I think it turned out rather pretty, too.  I just love ribbons!

Basically, I just laid the ribbons across the sticky part of the postcard where the photo should go, then trimmed them at the end.  I burned the edges of the ribbons so they wouldn't fray.

I've seen this elsewhere done much better, but I still wanted to show off my handiwork.  I just sewed on felt "teeth," eyes and stuffed horns.  I needed an easy, quick costume.  I think I will wear this even after Halloween!

I made this shirt using freezer paper and acrylic paints.  I designed it myself.  Basically I just made a circle that fit on the t-shirt, and free-handed the design.  I just liked the fact that I added glitter while the paint was still wet. 

p.s., sorry the quality is bad.  camera phone and all.
