1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Our 8-bit Christmas! on: December 24, 2012 09:45:09 PM

We wanted to surprise the boys for Christmas by building an 8-bit Christmas tree. My husband made the actual tree out of 5/8 plywood and the ornaments are printed and foam-backed.

We pick up the boys tomorrow and we can't wait to see their faces when they see it! We tried to put something from everyone's favorite game on there. Recognize any of your favorites? Grin
2  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Glinda the Good Witch of the North on: September 19, 2012 05:39:39 PM
I recently worked on a production of The Wizard of Oz, and after much to do of what to do about Glinda's dress I made this from a $20 bridesmaid dress I found at Goodwill.  Glinda had to be in a pink dress, sparkly and bubbles if possible and with a budget of nothing!  I was able to make this gown for $50 total.

There's some detailing you can't see, I embroidered scrolls in iridescent thread along the pink on the skirt. The iridescent fabric shimmered in green which was very Oz-zy and I thought a great touch.  It seemed to fit well.  A local blogger featured it as his cover pic for the show's review.  Smiley

(ooh, and proud parent moment, that's my mushroom kid up there! I did the lollipop guild's overalls too, our of an old Amtrak blanket from Goodwill.)
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Well, it's been 5 years already, I guess I should start posting... on: September 19, 2012 05:04:03 PM
Yes, you read that correctly, it's been 5 years since I joined and this is my very first post!

Wooo!  Grin

Coming to you live from sunny Summerville, South Carolina, I am a 29 (a few times) year old married to a crafty dude, gal. I've got kids, pets, and all that jazz.  We work in theater as a hobby and really get to let our craft loose with that!  We do everything from directing to sets.  I do costuming and whatever else needs to be done.  Our kids are crafty kids, constantly making stuff.

I'm looking forward to being apart of the community here, and I love checking out all of the amazing projects going on.

Crafter has been a part of my life for a long time as source of inspriation and reference, and now I look forward to contributing.
Thanks Crafty people!  Cheesy
