1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Reusable Bulk Food Bags on: July 04, 2010 07:38:25 AM
I finally found a use for all those plastic/vinyl bags that bedding comes in!

I whipped these up quickly yesterday before my trip to the grocery store.

Large for flours and such

Small for snacks

Medium for everything in between (or granola for me)
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Orange polka dot and stripe diaper bag!! on: June 04, 2008 07:54:49 AM
One good thing about being on semi-bedrest...I'm getting some stuff done!  I finished my diaper bag!  I used McCalls #4851 and cut out the pieces for the insert/divider but decided I didn't need it.

There are 2 big and 4 small pockets on the outside.

And four good-sized pockets on the inside with plenty more room left for my sling, a change of clothes, changing pad, and more toys!

I interfaced both layers of fabric with a light/medium weight interfacing but probably could have used a heavier weight in either one or two layers...I like the stability of it though.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Peacock Fairy Costume on: May 25, 2008 06:45:54 PM
I'm finally getting back into my sewing room and got around to making my 10 yo cousin's fairy costume for the faire next week.  I plan to add more peacock feathers to the bodice shoulder if I can get to Hobby Lobby this week.  I'm going to add more feathers (probably not peacock b/c they cost too much!) to the skirt (there are feathers there if you look closely).  The back laces in a curvy little diagonal and she has wings to wear with it.  She hasn't seen it yet - she's going to be so excited!!

4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / The Fantasticks...going to stage in 9 days!! on: October 22, 2007 06:49:20 PM
I'm finally finished!!
I have been working for the last three months on the costumes for my community theatre group's production of "The Fantasticks".  I was originally just asked to help plan the costumes but after one meeting, found out that one woman didn't know how to sew and the other woman was going through intensive cancer treatments...so I was on my own!  So, between working part-time, going to grad school full-time, and generally trying to have a life, I've been living on coffee...but I'm done!!
Here's a few pics from a rehearsal the other night...

Bellomy and El Gallo hamming it up
I made everything except the pants (scrub pants from my wedding costumes)

Hucklebee sittin' pretty
This entire outfit was made for this production as well.

My cast!!

Matt
Again, made this entire costume as well

Mortimer in his indian outfit (he's a pirate later-don't have a picture though)
Again, all but the pants made for the production

Henry with his tattered doublet
I made the shirt and added stuff to the pants and doublet to make them look worn and tattered without ruining the doublet (it belongs to my personal costume collection, not the company's)...not a great pic though

This is the least of what my costumes go through each night!  The poor guy has bruises from rehearsals...

Alright...soooo ready for time to sleep now that these are done...unfortunatly I have to be at dress rehearsal every night till we open next Thursday!

Thanks for looking!

I made this tunic in a tan jersey knit and decided to make it again to sell at my show coming up.  I really liked the way this one turned out!

I adore the bags and purses that are on this site - you all are awesome!  I thought I'd add these that I made a while back!

Bold brown and white floral purse (I made a skirt that matches - I've posted it on the clothing board)

I loved this fabric when it was in my grandma's playclothes box when I was little and I eventually took it a while back and made this -

ETA: action shots

EEk! I would never wear this out without a tank under it - the tummy doesn't look like it used to!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Skirts galore - cord, silk, and more! on: August 01, 2007 03:51:01 PM
Most of this stuff I made awhile back - as much as 5 years ago, I just thought I'd put some of it up here!

This is an overskirt - it is meant to have a neutral colored skirt under it.

I made the patch part of this about 6 years ago but had stopped wearing it because I started likeing longer and wider skirts so I added the inserts and piece on the bottom.  The fabric came from an ugly denim jumper - I just love the pockets!  Sorry it's a bad picture - it wasn't wanting to cooperate.

This is the only one made from a pattern - I don't wear it though because it is a tad too small.

I just loved this fabric!

Enjoy!

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Nana and Papa's Nursery on: August 01, 2007 03:37:44 PM
With my nephew about to turn 1 year old and both of my sisters pregnant, my mom wanted to turn my old bedroom into the nursery.  I didn't have to do much - I had painted it before I moved out (about 5 years ago) and decided to try my hand at stenciling the walls!
My inspiration for the stencils came from the book "Organic Baby" by Kimberly Rider.

Here are the sencils I made, which killed my fingers to cut! -

And here's the finished product!

(I need to take my paint mixing poster home!)

This is the wall where I'm going to stencil the names of each grandchild as they are born (Lillie is due in October and Cecilia is due in January!)
