11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: reconstructing a 90's style vest to modern? on: September 17, 2008 08:17:08 PM
What kind of material is it made from?  Have you thought about dyeing it or are you committed to white?
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help please! I'm clueless! Dyeing or painting silk to achieve ombre effect?I.H! on: September 14, 2008 01:40:31 PM
I haven't tried this method, but this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBN3hDIz88Y) might be helpful to you.

I would also recommend Jacquard acid dyes (http://dharmatrading.com/html/eng/1344-AA.shtml?lnav=dyes.html).  I've used those on silk/wool blend yarn and they gave really vivid colors.
13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Top Gear Telly Cushion. on: September 12, 2008 09:03:34 PM
OMG.  Love love LOVE it.
14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: The Tea Towel Murders on: September 07, 2008 08:03:28 PM
I find myself wondering who wielded the tiny sword.  When I kill tomatoes, I usually do it with a giant (from their perspective at least) kitchen knife, against which they have no possible defense.
15  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: First Quilt! -- Modern Wedding Quilt on: August 31, 2008 10:39:44 PM
I love the fabrics you used, especially that red and brown floral (is that an Alexander Henry fabric?).  You picked a really good pattern for big bold prints like that.
16  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sewing over pins? on: August 31, 2008 09:40:26 PM
I use little tiny silk pins and sew over them all the time.  I'm way too impatient to pull each one out.  I like to pin pretty scrupulously, then I can just zip right along when I'm sewing without worrying about it.
17  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Re: Joann's classes? on: August 31, 2008 01:55:04 PM
Has anyone done the scrapbooking class at Joann's?  I'd like to get into scrapbooking and I don't really know where to start, so I thought that'd be a good one for me.
18  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: ampersand. yellow & stripes. on: August 31, 2008 01:24:46 PM
That's really cool looking.  I might have to try some stencils on striped fabric.
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: What's a girl to do when she's bored? Learn to embroider!! on: August 30, 2008 11:38:09 PM
Awww!  That bird is so cute!  Your redwork is really cool too.  It totally looks like you've been embroidering for years.
20  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Giving Canned Goods as Gifts on: August 30, 2008 12:05:57 PM
We often give out brandied cherries for christmas (because we have two cherry trees in our yard and what else are we going to do with all of them?) and my mom makes little fabric gift bags to present them in.  I also like the idea of filling up a whole basket with complementary items, if you're feeling ambitious.
