So I'm knitting a hat in 2x2 rib in Dennis the Menace red and black stripes! I have 84 stitches. Am I right in thinking that, to decrease, I should divide them into 4 (16 sts), and knit two together at the beginning of the 16, and purl two together at the end of the 16, and continue? Also, can I do this every row?
I bought a lovely 3/4 sleeve swing style jacket quite cheaply. The only problem was that it was white. There was no label to tell me what fabric it was, but it felt like natural fibre to my inexperienced hand. So I thought I'd dye it khaki. It has come out an extremely pale green. Therefore it is obviously some kind of synthetic fibre. Is there any way I can dye it?
I am really proud of my latest creations, even though it was just a case of ripping off the raised button holes from the backs of the buttons and gluing earring posts to the back with epoxy resin. They were buttons I bought on ebay.
... and I'm very proud of it. The whole thing took me about 3 months to complete, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, even though it isn't perfect by any means.
I'm after a formal dress in a bit of a hurry, and this was the only one I liked. However, I don't like the black straps. If anyone can make me up a pattern, or indeed the dress, I'd be much obliged.
I have just got a big bag of goth clothes for free from freecycle. I dragged it accross London and it were very heavy indeed! In it were some old corsets, some missing eyelets and lacing, etc. I wonder if anyone could use them for something, because I'm sure I don't know what I'm doing with corsetry! I would be happy to post them to you.
I met a woman through my local community forum who spent an afternoon today teaching me how to knit. Lovely lady! She wouldn't accept any money, and I thought a box of chocolates wasn't very original.
She knits and sews (professionally), and is married with a teenage daughter. She has two little dogs and a cat which she dotes on. Other than that, I don't really know anything about her.
I'm a newbie here. This site is fantastic, and I wanted to get involved, so I'm here to show off the first thing I ever made - a button and bead elasticated bracelet which I think is rather cool and punky. I also made a wristlet clutch bag which I won't be posting because it was just an experiment. Anyway, here's my bracelet. Comments and suggestions appreciated.
