11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Mathematical Help for decreasing 2x2 ribbed hat on: September 20, 2007 11:34:35 PM
So I'm knitting a hat in 2x2 rib in Dennis the Menace red and black stripes!  I have 84 stitches.  Am I right in thinking that, to decrease, I should divide them into 4 (16 sts), and knit two together at the beginning of the 16, and purl two together at the end of the 16, and continue?  Also, can I do this every row?
12  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Is it possible to dye synthetic fabrics? on: August 16, 2007 02:24:22 AM
I bought a lovely 3/4 sleeve swing style jacket quite cheaply.  The only problem was that it was white.  There was no label to tell me what fabric it was, but it felt like natural fibre to my inexperienced hand.  So I thought I'd dye it khaki. It has come out an extremely pale green.  Therefore it is obviously some kind of synthetic fibre.  Is there any way I can dye it?
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Two Pairs of Button Earrings I made (please comment) on: August 13, 2007 07:25:14 AM
I am really proud of my latest creations, even though it was just a case of ripping off the raised button holes from the backs of the buttons and gluing earring posts to the back with epoxy resin. They were buttons I bought on ebay.

What do you think?
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What is yarn over? on: August 08, 2007 11:49:32 PM
A lot of the patterns I want to knit include yarn over.  What does this mean?  How is it done and why?  Any help greatly appreciated.
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I knitted a funky khaki and pink bag on: July 26, 2007 12:46:08 PM
... and I'm very proud of it.  The whole thing took me about 3 months to complete, and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, even though it isn't perfect by any means.

Here it is:

16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / HELP! I must have this dress! on: May 13, 2007 05:16:07 AM
I saw this on ebay today:

I'm after a formal dress in a bit of a hurry, and this was the only one I liked.  However, I don't like the black straps.  If anyone can make me up a pattern, or indeed the dress, I'd be much obliged.

17  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Any UK Crafsters Make/Repair corsets? on: April 26, 2007 06:57:22 AM
Hi

I have just got a big bag of goth clothes for free from freecycle.  I dragged it accross London and it were very heavy indeed!  In it were some old corsets, some missing eyelets and lacing, etc.  I wonder if anyone could use them for something, because I'm sure I don't know what I'm doing with corsetry!  I would be happy to post them to you.

18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / A gift for someone I hardly know on: April 19, 2007 07:58:33 AM
I met a woman through my local community forum who spent an afternoon today teaching me how to knit.  Lovely lady!  She wouldn't accept any money, and I thought a box of chocolates wasn't very original.

She knits and sews (professionally), and is married with a teenage daughter.  She has two little dogs and a cat which she dotes on.  Other than that, I don't really know anything about her.

Any help gratefully appreciated.
19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I made something! It's a wristlet. on: April 18, 2007 07:17:06 AM
I made this wristlet out of an old bandana.  Even though my sewing skill leaves a lot to be desired, I like it!

20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Metal Button and Star Bead Bracelet - my 1st post! on: March 28, 2007 12:19:28 AM
Hi All

I'm a newbie here.  This site is fantastic, and I wanted to get involved, so I'm here to show off the first thing I ever made - a button and bead elasticated bracelet which I think is rather cool and punky.  I also made a wristlet clutch bag which I won't be posting because it was just an experiment.  Anyway, here's my bracelet.  Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks all,

Julia
