1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / A question about bead caps on: February 16, 2011 02:49:17 AM
I'm quite new to jewellery making.  I love the look of bead caps.  What size bead caps do you use with what size beads?  For instance, do you need a 10mm bead cap for a 10mm round bead?

Thanks all.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Crystal heart beads - please help me find this color. on: November 05, 2010 02:07:51 AM
Hi all,

I wonder if any of you kind people can help me find some crystal heart beads in this color:

I saw a pair of earrings while out shopping that I wanted to buy a friend for her birthday, but now they are gone.  I found the above ones on ebay, but I want to make them with bronze findings.

The colour I really want is smoky quartz.

If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How can I make this? on: October 26, 2010 01:01:09 AM
I want to make something similar to this for my boyfriend for our aniversary:

I was thinking more of a single strand with smaller beads so it is more manly.  Any help, advice or suggestions much appreciated.
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How would you make this? on: September 14, 2010 05:51:20 AM
I saw this on Etsy:

Isn't it beautiful!  How would you go about making it?

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How do I make these earrings? on: July 07, 2010 07:03:25 AM
While out shopping recently, I fell in love with these earrings:

I'd like to make something similar, but I don't like the silver chain part.  The bottom part that the beads are handing from is strung jump rings.  Aren't they lovely!

Thanks all!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help Needeed with February Lady Please on: September 23, 2009 05:52:11 AM
Hi All

I wonder if you can help me with my February Lady Sweater.  I haven't even cast on yet.  The pattern calls for 18 sts to 4" on 5.0mm needles.  However, I got 18 sts to 4" on 4.5mm needles with the yarn I am using (acrylic aran).  I have been trying out the lace pattern in a swatch, but it doesn't look right.  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks all
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / A question about knitting books on: September 18, 2009 02:56:17 AM
Hi Craftsters.

I am looking for a knitting book with basic sweater patterns (i.e. v neck, funnel neck, etc.), and information on how to size them, etc.

Any help most appreciated.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help with a knitting pattern on: March 07, 2009 09:52:44 AM
Hi all

I am not such an expert knitter.  I am currently knitting a top, and the pattern says "continue until armhole measures 15cm".  Is this 15cm from the start of the armhole to the end of the work, or 15cm diagonally?  Maybe I'm being a bit duh!

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a sweater pattern on: February 16, 2009 04:00:30 AM
I'd like to knit a sweater which is form fitting with puff sleeves and a round neckline, on which I would have a tie neck.  I am an intermediate knitter.  I would prefer to knit it flat rather than in the round, and the sleeves separately rather than with DPNs.  If anyone can help me find a pattern (preferably a free pattern), I'd really appreciate it!

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / What to do with these two lamps? on: September 17, 2008 11:14:32 AM
A friend gave me these two lamps, which are a little boring.

The first one is small with a paper shade and shiny plastic base:

The second has a black metal base, and a rather beaten up paper shade:

Any suggestions?
