1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: August 2014 Ongoing Pinterest Swap Discussion on: August 11, 2014 01:39:29 PM
Hi y'all.  I've just joined this month's swap today, and already made my first claim.  What interesting Pinterest boards you all have!

Hi All!  My name is Julia, and I'm from London, UK.  I'm happy to be joining you all for the Pinterest Swap this month!  I live with my partner and two of his adult children (his 21 year old daughter has just had a baby a month ago!).  I work from home as a medical transcriptionist.  We also have a cat and two rabbits.

My Pinterest is:  http://www.pinterest.com/juliapeculiar71

My swap wishlist board is probably your best bet, but all boards are fair game.

~  I have no allergies, except wool, alpaca and mohair, but merino wool is fine.
~  My favourite colours are deep purple, black, olive green, duck egg blue.
~  I don't collect much due to limited space, except interesting shells and beach pebbles, and miniature perfume bottles
(and of course yarn and fabric stashes!).

I've already been Pinterest stalking you all for inspiration, and will be claiming shortly.  Have a great month everyone!

I'm not in this swap this month  Sad  Lots of knitting to do for new step-granddaughter!  But it's still fun to see what you're all up to!

And BrandyK, are you coming to London?  I'm in London!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Pets and smoke on: November 10, 2013 12:30:57 AM
I am a smoker in a household where everyone smokes, and I have a cat.  I don't allow the cat near my crafting, and I wash everything prior to sending, and dry it away from smoking areas.  Of course, being a smoker myself, I can't tell if a thing is smoky, but I haven't had any complaints.  I try not to claim anyone allergic to smoke though.

Thank you, Kayrun, for organising such a fun swap!

I'm so glad you liked everything, Karen!  Yes, Curly Whirleys are the best.  Chewy caramel covered in chocolate, yum.  I must admit that is the second pack I bought - the first didn't make it (I ate them).  Yes, I had a little chuckle when I saw the minion you sent me!  The labels didn't make it, but something hard was the stitch markers (do they remind you of gummy bears?), and something dotted was the project bag.  Thank you for your kind comments about my minions.  My stepsons are getting these for Christmas.

And Ladybugsandbumblebees, the minions are quite quick to make (if a bit fiddly), but totally worth it!

Yes, it's cool isn't it!  I've made one before for a friend, and it's fairly easy.  Yes, the broom handle is an icord.  There's a pattern for it on Ravelry:

Hi All!  As promised, here are the wonderful things Kayrun sent in my swap package!

Something Local:  a zip pouch and a reusable shopping bag from her LYS.

Something Green:  Dollar bill origami (a heart and a ring) - brilliant!  Plus green (and other) tea, which I will certainly enjoy!

Something Hard:  A lovely cabled washcloth - Kayrun knows I don't do cables!

Something Recycled:  Some lovely, pretty envelopes made from doilies and notecards.

Something Funny:  A knitted broomstick bookmark which I love!

Something beginning with M:  A cute minion toy (love despicable me), and some beautiful yarns from malabrigo (or as I pronounce it in my head malabriggio).

Something dotted:  Some lovely Laurel Burch cats fabric, which I absolutely love, and a plastic grocery bag holder/dispenser, which is great, and I'll get a lot of use out of!

And last, but by no means least, Sender's Choice:  Some beautiful blue and beautifully soft fingerless mitts.  The are a little big for me, but they fit my partner, Stewart, perfectly, so it saves me having to knit him a pair of mitts!  Also, he loves them!

Also, some Mexican hot chocolate, a lovely crochet hook and some lovely purple yarn.

Thanks so much Karen, I absolutely love everything!

Hi all!  I have this morning received a fantastic box of goodies from my lovely swap partner, and the brilliant swap organiser, Kayrun.  Photos will follow this evening - I'm off out to lunch with my partner who has a day off, and then back to photograph all the things.  Thanks so much, Karen!
