Hey Leah, thanks for your comment.
I did this picture so long ago I hardly remember the techniques I used, lol. Well, to get soft smudges, before I even start the picture, I use graphite (you could use pencil too) to make some smudges on the paper. This just gets a good medium to work with. I'm pretty sure that around the nose I just made some pencil marks (yes, this whole thing was doen in pencil) and smudged them with my finger. I don't think I used a rubbing stick. I usually only use one for small areas. The smudges around the nose aren't that big, that's because when I was near the end of the picture, I used an eraser on the  cheeks to highlight them. Some of the smudging went away after I used the eraser.

Okay, I hope that wasn't too long or confusing.

That's a pretty cool idea. I wish I could do that, but I too have one of those skinny silver stands. I'll find something to do to it though Wink

Yes, I originally thought it was of Bob Marley too! Great work, those are very good.

Thanks again Smiley I agree, teeth can be tricky. They're not my favorite features to draw either, but in this picture i think they turned out okay.

Oooo, I love it. It looks like a soldier. Did you get it from a picture or make it up from your head?
I really like it Smiley

No, this isn't anyone I know; it's a model from the 40's or 50's but I'm not sure who. I love doing faces, that's what I usually do. Hands are not bad either. Thanks for your comment Smiley
