1  Re: Little Geisha Girl - TUTORIAL! Very Very IMG heavy! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Ska Hippie on: August 09, 2007 04:29:22 PM
Well, I found myself needing a bookmark today, so I decided to give this a shot. Here she is!! Smiley

I wish I could've gotten a less blurry pic, but since she's so small & it was troublesome to get decent lighting, my hand was a bit shaky while taking the pic. She sure is cute though!! Cheesy

I swear I'm going to do this stuffie doll idea!!! Unfortunately, for me, this is no quickie craft Cheesy *lol*

I seriously sat around for, like, a half hour working out how I wanted to do it, and I lacked the confidence to actually take scissors to fabric Embarrassed I will soon though, & I will share!! *I am determined!!*

I did, however, instead of making the doll, make a pincushion. I've wanted one for a while, & I figured it would be a good pre-project Wink

3  Tie dying yarn??? in Dyeing: Discussion and Questions by Ska Hippie on: June 23, 2007 08:21:49 PM
Is it possible to dye yarn using a tie dye kit?? Cuz, well, I did give it a try & it toooootally didn't work ~ should I have bought a different kind of yarn (I used Red Heart, & yes I know it's far from top of the line stuff), or is the issue with the dying technique (as in, could anything be added such as vinegar or bleach to make it work better)?? Huh

Here's my less-than-worth-my-time result *lol* Cry:

You certainly did an awesome job for a first-time sewer!! Cheesy

As for inspiration/tutes for this month...
The toys/dolls/playthings board has a lot of awesome inspiration. I have a lot of things saved on my computer that I liked; now it's just a matter of figuring out how to alter & make them hehehe. In the discussion & questions part of that board, there's a "find your patterns here" board with some tutes & such. A couple that I think may be helpful are:
http://missyballance.typepad.com/crafty_carnival/2007/01/bunny_pillow_tu.html
http://dollmaker.nunodoll.com/mini/mini.html

Surely it doesn't have to be knit. It could be as simple as a "worry doll", or whatever they're commonly called Cheesy (Pardon the terrible quality of my pic hehe)

"Helloooo?" *echoes*
Did I jump on the bandwagon a lil too late?! LOL Huh Cheesy
Oh well, I'll continue on until August, when there are no more suggestions (so far)...

Here's my pillow. It's also pretty ghetto, hahaha. This was the first pillow I've ever made, so thanks to this CAL for the inspiration, as well as happykat's "Awesome pillow from company work shirt" post - I wanted tom make this because my boyfriend & I have been together for a year & have been living together for 6 mos. We met at work, so I thought I'd make a throw for our couch to remember all the fun we had there Smiley

It's a lot darker than my camera's flash will allow, so you can't see the stain LOL - I didn't even notice it at all until I took the picture LOL Grin

I wish I could get a better pic, but here's mine Cheesy They turned out incredibly well. I used the candle flame method instead of a heat gun Grin

7  Hand-sewn Patchwork Purse..Bag...Thing ;) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Ska Hippie on: April 14, 2007 06:07:35 PM
Well, I've been working on this guy for a lil over 2 weeks.
I was trying to put something together for while I'm walking through the woods or riding my bike, and I figured patchwork would be the smartest thing to do with the fabric at hand (Wal Mart bandanas, lol).
It's completely hand sewn, since I don't have a working sewing machine.
And, well, I think it turned out fairly well considering the minor boo boos I'd encountered along the way (such as one side being wider than the other, lol).

Here it is on display (on my un-vacuumed floor, haha)

Here's the sligtly ghetto interior (I'm definitely doing the strap a lil different with the next bag I make - this one's a lil ghetto, lol)

And, of course, an "action shot" - pardon my PJs, I was lazy hehe  Grin

Feedback is always welcome Cheesy

I really like that, gkswife!!  Grin Verry nice.

My April project is pretty ghetto, lol. I needed an open topped pouch, and so I crocheted this guy:

The colors are a lot deeper than photography will allow, but you get the point  Wink Just crocheted & sewn at the sides. It's serving its purpose quite well, hehe.

9  Re: Happy 100 Personal ATC Challenge & Gallery in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by Ska Hippie on: March 28, 2007 11:36:40 PM
I finished my first!!!  Grin

I decided to start with aura because nothing comes to mind yet with hyena. So, I remembered seeing an aura quiz on blogthings.com, so I took the quiz & got "blue aura". I built the card off of descriptions of people who have a blue aura. They tend to be natural caretakers, always wanting to help others, thus the picture of a woman with her daughter & the heart. Smiley They also tend to be introspective, thus the tiny journal. They're "true" dreamers, thus the cotton cloud. And I felt the need to jazz it up a bit with some blue rays covered with glittery nailpolish eminating off the picture to enhance the "aura" feel. Hehehe.

Hello!! I've seen soo many beautiful ATCs in this thread, I was inspired to begin this seemingly addictive craft Smiley I made 2 today:

One for Ostara

And one for the month of March, going with the theme "In like a lion, out like a lamb"  Smiley

Thanks in advance to everyone who checks 'em out!!!
