My 8 year old son and 11 year old daughter are almost as obsessed with Twilight as I am, so for their birthday party this year (they are three weeks apart in the same month so they give mom a break and have one party together) they wanted a Twilight party. Of course, anything Twilight related in party supplies I would have had to order off the internet and pay mega bucks for. I spent too many hours on this pinata, and glued every square of tissue paper on by hand. I was going to just the apple, but after using up the entire package of tissue paper, and having a big blank hole staring at me, my boyfriend suggested printing out a picture of Bella and Edward and filling it with that. So lo and behold, my Twilight pinata -
I made it just using a flour and water paste, newspaper, and a roundish punch ball balloon. The stem was an empty toilet paper tube covered with mache then painted, and the leaf is some net fabric I had leftover from the poppet swap. It held up surprisingly well. All the kids hit it at least once, then the hanger pulled out and they dived on it, and that was the end of it.
This is my poppet rendition of my best friend's World of Warcraft character. It's a Christmas present for him, and I really hope he likes it.
Here is a pic of his actual character... Moonbow a Night Elf hunter.
I didn't go all out in trying to make her outfit since, well, clothes are hard for me, lol so she just lounges around in some off time alova
My son wanted a poppet of his own, since I gave my first one to my daughter, and he wanted Yoda. Lol I am not that talented, and I had nothing to make hair out of, but he loves it. He said it's a young yoda since there is no gray hair. The other one is just one I whipped up and was messing around with a different hair style. She doesn't have any clothes yet either. Personally I think it's a lot easier to make the poppers than the clothes!!
She only took me about 5 hours to complete, and not only is she my first Poppet, but also my first doll/stuffed toy. I'm quite proud of how she turned out. I know what to look for and what to fix my second time around, which I'm sure will be soon. Everyone I showed her to fell in love, and my daughter won't give her back. She also wouldn't allow me to photograph her nude, and I have made any clothes yet, lol which is why she is wrapped in a wash cloth.
I have a 5 year old niece who has Schizencephaly. She cannot see, cannot hold anything, can't sit up, eat, crawl, talk, etc... Usually I give her something that vibrates, plays music, or stick with everyone one else and give her an item of clothing. She wasn't supposed to live past a year, and like I said, she is turning 5 Saturday. I'd like an idea of something special to make her, that wouldn't take too long, and hasn't been given to her by everyone else. I thought about a small quilt personalized somehow, but that would probably take me longer than I need it to. Any suggestions?
My cousin gave her sister a baby shower this past Saturday. She said she would be the financial backer, but I had to come up with something creative Not too hard to do. I've made a few diaper cakes before, so I made one to be in the center of the gift table. Of course when I come to post it I see another precious moments one a few posts down (guess they are still popular).
Then to make the refreshment table a bit more crafty, I cut a watermelon in the shape of a buggy and filled it with fruit salad. The mom-to-be was pleasently happy with both, and I got a lot of requests for future baby showers
