11  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Window "Art" **BEWARE 7 pics** ~~ UPDATE NOV 08 ~~ on: April 29, 2008 12:53:07 PM
Hi,

I thought I'd share some of the different things I've painted on my windows over the past few months. I got the idea after seeing a post on here about a cheap way to decorate your windows using acrylic paint so I thought I'd give it a try. And these are my results:
The first one I did on my one bedroom window, wasn't 100% happy with it, but I did still like it  and it stayed there for about a month I think.

I decided that if I only do one window it would look uneven (plus it was like being bitten by a bug - I wanted to do more, and more...AND MORE!!!)  ;-p
These ones are copied, actually all the ones after this are not originally my images, I will try to give the names of who they belong to but if I get it wrong, sorry.

So that was August, next came October, autumn, and well...Halloween.

This image is "Happy Halloween by suetlilanglz" from Deviant Art. (Please do keep in mind that these images were used for my own personal use, nothing commercial or anything.)
After that, December - Christmas! My window. (I started to only do one window because, well...I think I got lazy or something  Roll Eyes  I like the way they turned out all the same.

^ I can't find the name of who this one belongs to, I'm really really sorry, if you know who drew it please let me know because I want to give them their due credit - I loved this image soo soo much.
This was the one I did on our downstairs window.

I can't find the name to this one either ( I was stupid when I was looking for images and I didn't save all the original names. Sorry.) Again, if you know who it belongs to...

So that cleared it for 2007, then I couldn't seem to find any occasions to paint my window..yeah I know there was Valentines day, my sisters wedding, my brothers 2nd kid being born, and Easter and a few more in between but by the time I thought "yeah, I'll paint that, the day had passed."  Roll Eyes  But the other day I decided that I wanted something on my window again because it looked bare, so I did this yesterday and today:

Closer

Its from Fruits Basket the Manga.

Anyway , I hope you all like, let me know what you think. I am really sorry about the names I forgot so if anyone can help me out I'd be really thankful.

13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Old cartoon Remote Holder on: March 20, 2008 02:02:24 PM
Hi,

I needed/wanted something to hold my dvd remote (because I have no others Sad ) so that it's close to me when I wake up in the morning - because almost every morning when I wake up, before I get out of bed I start playing my music, it helps get me into a good mood - and I didn't really want to put it on the bedside table because I have so much other stuff on there already...So I came up with this solution:

I had an old Beano comic that was falling apart and this is where I saw my opportunity to use some of it, first I laminated a few pages and from there I just sewed up the sides and the bottom. Afterwards I put a little bit of newspaper in the bottom to make the remote stand higher because without it the most important button   "Play"    couldn't be reached properly Grin But I think its perfect, its hanging right above my headboard!

Let me know what you think...

14  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Make up Wipes container on: March 20, 2008 01:52:28 PM
Hi,

Story:
I wear makeup - don't we all Roll Eyes - and at the end of the day when I take my makeup off I use remover wipes...but they are always sold in plastic packets...that make a lot of noise, which for me is really bad because I live with my parents and when I go to bed late - 3/4 in the morning - I don't want to wake them up, and when the rest of the house is silent and I go to open the little packet it makes a huge noise. So I needed to find a solution, a silent solution... Wink

This is what I came up with,
Front open

Front Closed

Back

Here in Belgium (I don't know where else they do this) but they sell these wet wipes for kids, that they can use when they learn how to use the big peoples toilet.
And this was originally the holder - thats why the bright red and green - on the top it originally had this weird crocodile dude...he could have been a tortoise, I wasn't sure....and I didn't want that on the top because well, next to the dude it said "toilet wipes" and he was trying to wipe his own butt! Grin Wink I didn't think it was a good idea to keep that on the top so I covered all the labels with one of my favorite things...tattoo flash!
I still need to cover it in something to protect the images, but for the rest it does the trick, its silent and so far keeps the wipes from drying out.

Let me know what you think...

15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / You can't Ctrl me! on: March 20, 2008 01:31:49 PM
Hi,

A year or 2 ago I took apart one of my dads old keyboards that he was going to throw away - He had like 3 and he was going to toss all of them, I painted the one , and took the other 2 apart.

So far this is all I've done with the keys,

Sorry its not very clear, but I really really hate flash! - so much that I hate it with a passion!

I really like it, I want to make another one with the Home key, I just need another chain and after that I still have 208 keys left...!

I hope you like it.

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Bones Jewelry ::Update at the bottom of page 1 :: on: March 20, 2008 01:25:53 PM
I got a pack of Skeleton Confetti Sprinkles last Halloween because I knew I could find a use for it, I HAD to because they just looked so cool. This is what I've done with it so far,

Ribcage Necklace

Closer

I'm not sure exactly how long it is, but its kinda long, I don't really wear it because the ends of the ribcage are pointy, and they hurt when you get poked!   Wink Grin

So for the moment it hangs really nicely on my wall - I've actually done that with 3 of my necklaces...I just hang them on the wall because they look so pretty.

I also made earrings

And I've made a set of hair sticks (which I don't have a photo of) but I don't like them.

I still have quite a few other bones that I don't know what to do with, I have the most of the lower legs and the skulls.

17  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Ideas for old desk/chair thing ::Updated - pics at the bottom pf the page:: on: March 20, 2008 11:56:47 AM
Hi all,

Yesterday I bought this old desk/chair thingie from a second hand shop because I thought it was cool and I'd love to have something like that in my room and because, well - I don't know anyone else who has one!  Wink Cheesy
Anyway, I've now sanded it to take off the old layer of kinda discoloured varnish and to try and fix the broken piece on the table part...the problem is that there is a disagreement on the house as to what I should do next. I want to paint it a matte black and then put tattoo flash of some sort on there (and so far the only thing I could think of is to put a white crown on that back plate thing, because I think it will be pretty) after that I'm not really sure....my mom says she doesn't like the idea of the crown "try a rose instead or maybe something else...", and then once I had sanded it and she saw it "maybe you should just use a light varnish on it and leave it like that".....my dad didn't say much from the beginning until now (why they must have opinions now that I've sanded it - I really don't know) but now he says "You're going to ruin the chair if you paint it black...people will think its plastic, maybe you could just use a really dark varnish and after that you could still put on the tattoo flash and it will look like the image is lifted from the chair - kind of 3D" - if you get what he means.

I'm not too sure about their suggestions because I like the idea of the black with white graphics -- thats why I decided to post here to ask all of you for your opinions.
It can go 2 ways, either its going to solve my problem or make it worse ^.^

Oh, and because I thought  you would like to see what it is that I'm talking about...here are some pics:

18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Kisa Project Help on: February 25, 2008 10:20:10 AM
Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you could help me, please.

First the story:  (Its quite long, sorry) T.T
Almost 2 years ago my sister had a little girl, I was dubbed godmother - yay! - when the little one was +- 3 months old she was christened...now as godmother I'm meant to get the nicest/biggest/ (daddy said most expensive! o.O ) gift to celebrate this occasion. So the crafter in me decided that I won't go buy anything..buying stuff is for chumps..  Grin I'll make something instead, so I can say that it came from the heart and all. I did do some buying (chumpette), I bought this beautiful cross stitch kit --bad move -- I had never cross-stitched before in my life, and this was a fairly big project with quite a bit of detail, but I've always been a really ambitious person, and even though my mother (who always seems to know better) kept telling me that the project was too big, and I'll never get it done in time, I said "Lets get it...don't worry ma, I'll get it done..."...
Non the less, the little one is going to be 2 this year, and she still hasn't gotten a christening gift from me. *naughty, naughty, naughty* -  I'm a bad aunt.

Anyway, I think I now know why I didn't finish it -- oh, it had nothing to do with the fact that I'm really really lazy, and my eyes were too big for my crafting abilities  Grin  -- It was because I hadn't yet found the right image, now that I know a little more about her personality and such I think I've found the image that would suit her perfectly.
I want to make her a cross stitch of Kisa from Fruits Basket, even though her sign is different. I always thought that Kisa was sooo adorable.
And here is where I need help, I want to use this image

I did put it to a graph using the KnitPro site - this is the result

But when I look at the image it not only looks really unclear to me, looks like it will come out rather big, and that I will need more than 5 different thread colours. And I don't think it will come out nicely.

And thats why I wanted to ask all of you for some advice as to what I should do. I don't have any other programs to use, and I would like to keep it to a 3 thread colour change max. if possible, because I don't have that many colours and I don't want to have to go and buy a ton more just for this project - especially when I don't know how big its going to end up being.

Could anyone help, either with the issues or any advice - at all.

Thank you all soooo much already,
Butterfly Grl

19  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Safe Notebook on: August 18, 2007 01:21:59 PM
Hey...

I had these empty cassette covers and I wasn't quite sure what to do with them (still not completely sure and I still have a I think 5 left..) and I got to thinking about the last note book that I had on my bag, and how it was broken by I think the first week. So I came up with a solution....a safe notebook...

And this was the result:

The back:

::NOT MY IMAGE:: i got it here http://www.pixelgirlpresents.com/desktops.php?page=1&cat=&res=

The Front:

( get it..he's safe in his little plastic cover..)

Open:

I had to cut all the paper to size...(man was that a pain in the @$$) its multi coloured after I cut them I had to glue them into to a notepad like form. And then eventually glue them into the case.
It works really well, and the paper stays clean and in one piece. Yay!

Oh, and in case you're interested this is what I've done so far with one of the other cases

Also for in my bag, I like to keep some meds with me at all times (for headache, nausea....etc) and some plasters... they fit in there nicely.

20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My Kind of Pony on: August 18, 2007 01:05:35 PM
Hey...

I bought these little pony dolls quite some time ago..I originally had other plans for them but I got bored with the idea and they just sat in the cupboard until a few weeks ago when I decided to give them a makeover.

The first to the chopping board was this fellow:

All black with a red spiked Mohawk, cute green eyes, and a red Anarchy tattoo....(no tail)  Shocked Grin (oh, and he used to be a really light blue)

Second in line was this young Chickie:

She is mainly black but has a nice-ish pink skull tattoo, a silver nose ring, and black eyes. The pink around the tattoo is almost the original colour just slightly darker..and I would have liked the skull to have come out a little better, but the little stencil I made leaked and so I had to try and fix it..and that is the result. Oh and she still has a little bit of a tail left, and her original hair, just cut a lot shorter.

When they met:

I'm still very happy with both of them though.
Now I've just been trying to figure out what to do with the other one I have - its white..well WAS white but that one is sitting instead of standing.
