Its been a while since I last posted something, alot has happened and life got a bit hectic. But I have been able to make a few things recently and one of them is this clutch. When I first saw a photo of them I knew I needed one.... I just dont have the do$h for an authentic one, soooo...... I made one! :-D
I started with a cheap sunglasses case, a few rings and my father kindly flattened some wire for me. (Dont you just love 'em?!)
Next was to find out how I was going to make the holes, I thought "just use an exact-o knife" but we soon found out that we were not working with plastic! Its alloy or something similar. So I got to play with the Dremel ^.^ (I think I get a little bit too much fun out of power tools :-D )
Make sure the fixtures fit
Then simply put the rings in place and fold the fixtures to hold.
Push the inner plastic cover back and its all hidden!
And there we have it!
I love it and all the rings still fit properly, I just cant wear it when my fingers decide to swell, its kinda funny to try and get your money out when one of your fingers is stuck! ;-) I'm also very glad to see that my camera can fit in there too. :-)
After watching Coraline and seeing the adorable Squid kitty, I knew I had to make one. I just needed the materials to do so and I didnt have money to buy some fleece, so it lay on the back burner for a while. Until the other day when I saw this lovely blue fleece sweater I had in my closet that I hadn't worn in ages....perfect! I cut it up last night, and because I was too lazy to go upstairs fetch the sewing machine, set it up, sew and then clean up, pack up and carry the heavy thing all the way back upstairs - I decided to hand stitch it instead. (Not quite sure if that means I was too lazy or just wanted a challenge) Anyhow, it took me 2 movies long to sew the whole thing, and here he is:
I know in the movie the button is a different colour, this is all I had, and I prefer black in most things. He is quite small, the body is about 10 cm high (3.9 in) and his legs/tentacles about 12cm (4.7 in). And, yeah, thats him.....(I'm guessing it was a him)
Let me know what you think.
::EDIT:: I was asked how I did it...here is a basic idea. I kind of "winged it" when I did it, this is how I remember it.
Hope it helps, post pictures if you do it, I'd really like to see.
Howdy, I made a new top today!! yay!! I haven't sewn in SO long, it was quite exciting to do it again. Anyhow, I've had this idea ever since I got the original t-shirt... I got a black oversized t-shirt from a family member a few years ago, on the front is some music note/image and the back says Stella Atrois Music. I had cut from it before (because I needed black fabric) but I always had the idea to make it into a tube top of sorts - I just needed red fabric. Well today I decided to sew something, I went through all my boxes of fabric stash and found an old red shirt that was perfect...so without further adieu, here is it: Front Back What is says on the back And then we come to the different options, I added a few string/bands - originally with the idea of having a plait going from the front to the back but then I realised that it would be too wide, so I was left with 3 strands, and nothing to do with them. Then I got creative and started trying things. This is how the shirt is on its own, I only sewed one strand to it.
Here are a few options when I added the other 2 strands
This is how I'm wearing it now:
Oh and it can, technically, be worn back to front too.
Don't say I didn't warn you about the photos, I have already re-sized them, but if they are still an issue - let me know an I will re-size them even smaller. C&C Welcome, let me know what you think. xxx Butterfly grl
To start off, I do consider this a craft, if it is not just let me know and I will remove it.
I am in my second year (technically) of Hairdressing, though we havent learnt much about updo's - all we know is how to do a chignon. I was bored this afternoon and inspiration came, so I got busy and made this (instead of studying for my exams!! ) Let me know what you think, I showed my parents, got a few laughs but otherwise not much reaction. I'd just like oppinions and so forth.
Look its Minnie Mouse!!
. . . . or is it?? Lets see it from another angle... . . . .
OMG!! An elephant!! . . . Head on,
Eyes are apparently a little scew - - only say that now - - oops!
Ok, I know the ears need a bit more work, but condering this was the first time, I am looking past that and just saying "better luck next time".
Hey, haven't made anything in a while but a recently had a strong desire to get back into it. So I went through my yarn stash and this is what I came up with, I first made a blue bunny ( no pic sadly, wasn't that happy with it.) Then came the Love Turtles, the pattern came from the crochetville website.
They have no official name, I made them to give to my grandma and I'll leave the naming up to her, but for now they're One and Two, Here is Two giving his sweetheart a flower,
And last night I made this little fellow, he was made from the Noggins pattern on the suncatcher eyes webpage, I had a few issues coming down the neck with it, but a few alterations here and there it was sorted. I also gave him a fluffy tail, which you sadly can't really see in the photo, if you want to see another one let me know. Roger the Bunny/Rabbit - get it??
There is a really big possibility that this has been done before, its just the first time I've done it. :-D It's something I found out about/tried a few nights ago while I was bored (its really amazing how much of the stuff I've done is a result of being bored!) I generally don't do much with my nails but I did have a lot of temporary tattoos lying around - thanks to a box of Bubblicious with free tattoo with each piece of gum! yay! All you do is take any temporary tattoo, place it on your nail, wet the back so it releases from its paper, let it dry and cover with 2 coats of clear nail polish. Extremely easy!
I was wondering if anyone could help me, I made a bag over a year ago - the point was to make it bigger than the messenger bag I already had and to add a zipper. The result was an oversized messenger that I never used, I'm thinking about trying to sell it now, only problem is I kinda painted on it and I hate the paint job - doesn't look good, kinda child like. And now my question is...can anyone help me/give me suggestions on what I can do to cover it?? This is what it looks like: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=176442.msg1824097#msg1824097 Its the bigger one.
I got the idea for this after hearing the song "Wikked Lil' Grrrls" by Esthero, and I like the fact that every time I see it, it makes me feel like I can take on the world you know - keep fighting no matter what/ don't give up without a fight.
Anyway, here it is....
It is kinda simple, but it looks better in real life because you can see more shade and texture in it. I'm also really proud of it because...its my first ever painting on a canvas board. I don't paint, thats also the reason why I'm so amazed with it and the way the paint dried. It isn't my original image - I think I found it either on Google or Picsearch - I then traced the outlines onto the canvas and painted from there.
A short while ago I found out about the Paul Villinski art, somewhere on the net. Anyway I knew I had to have something like it. I originally was thinking of making it like he odes and attaching it to the wall, but 1) I don't have space on my walls, & 2) my parents would never allow me to. So i did the next best thing, I hung them around my bedroom light. Here's a Pic:
They don't hang all level and properly, but I still like it, and am trying to figure out another way to hang them.
And instead of starting another post I thought I'd just add this here too, I love hanging things, and I made this a little while ago too.
