2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: resin ear plugs [gauges] and resin rings on: November 07, 2008 11:00:13 AM
my ears have been stretched since i was 16 [im 29 now] so they have been pretty much healed Smiley and ive had all sorts of stuff in my ears; resin, acrylic, fimo, wood, bone, steel etc and i haven't had any reaction to anything except the wood made my ears a bit itchy. you can seal them  if you really want to. resin is just plastic and they make all sorts of jewelry out of resin that touches skin- bracelets, pendants, rings etc. the skin inside your HEALED ear hole is the same as any other. just make sure that you are clean and you take care of your holes just like you would any other part of your body...wash it with soap and water and clean the jewelry. you should have no problems. but just because i haven't doesnt mean you wont so test it out. your ear isnt going to fall off or anything.

clay will not work. you need to use something that is flexible and that the resin wont seep into. you can use a 2 part rtv silicone putty that stays soft (you can get this at Utrecht) or make a slip mold by getting liquid silicone and doing a layer mold where you pour 1 layer on a at time to build up the mold...

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / cozy wool boyfriend scarf on: November 07, 2008 08:34:42 AM
i made this scarf for my boyfriend. he loves scarves but can never find any he likes so i dragged him to Michaels and made him pick out a yarn he liked. he went for lion's wool-ease in paprika. the scarf is a little over 6 feet long and is single crochet with an n hook the whole way. i used 2 full skeins as well. it was a little stiff before blocking it a bit but now with some wear its getting soft and pliable. next time i may use a larger hook. this was the first project i made in about a year. i haven't picked up my hooks since i started school again but this seemed like the right time to grab them again.

the whole thing sort of bunched

detail

i might keep it for myself!

hey everyone. i havent posted here in a while since i havent crafted in a while since school and life got pretty hectic but now that things have slowed down a bit, i have gotten back into doing crafts that i can use and i had been wanting to try making resin plugs as i love changing what i wear in my ears but its so expensive to buy new ones, so here are my first goes at these.

blue sparkle

they are round, i promise!

copper glitter

I made these as gifts...the green one is for the little girl i nanny for...today is her birthday! she loves green and snow so voila! i strung wire wrapped fried marbles on the end of some of the points for a mobile effect. i think i may keep the blue one though! they are bigger than my cat!

i love my little scion and i LOVE hello kitty...so i pimped my ride!

i made the hello kitty vinyl decal myself! it was a pain to put on and up close it doesnt look perfect perfect but a foot away and its AWESOME! i have hello kitty seat covers and my back trunk cover is covered in a hello kitty blanket. i didnt get pics of those because my camera died Sad

up closeish

i refused to pay over 40 bucks for a professional vinyl so i got some white contact and did it myself. the dots are these wallpaper dots that are water resistant on walls so we will see how long they last on my car. worst comes to worst ill buy some more at the dollar store [yay dollar tree!]

tell me what you think.
