1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Are there maxi dresses that are flattering on plus sizes? on: October 03, 2007 01:34:31 AM
i've been wanting a maxi dress but i haven't found a cute in my size. i think it would be kinda simple to make one. some patterns and styles i've seen in smaller sizes i feel would be SOOOOO HORRIBLE ON ME if i've modified or tried to copy to fit me.

i wanna look cute! even though it's a long dress i don't want it to look like i just tied a sheet around my body...any suggestions?

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Wooden jewels (good top coat? the one i used is too sticky! *sad face*) on: April 28, 2007 12:25:11 AM
(sorry i couldn't quite find what i was lookin for in the search. Huh)

Hey everyone this is my first post.  Grin and i was just wanting to know what's a good topcoat i could use for wooden jewelry?

i've painted the pieces with acrylic paint and i want the finish to be HIGH GLOSS/SEALER. but i was also concerned about the pieces touching or being near the skin as well.  or should everything be just fine?

also the pieces i'm going to use as earrings are kinda thin (WOODSIES)...so could the top coat help make them stronger or should i use like a stiffner (i thought about using the fabric stiffner spray)?

one more thing (lol) i don't have a drill (boo!) but could i use something to poke holes in my future earrings without damaging them?

any suggestions?

(if things work out nicely...i'll edit with a link in the FINISHED area.)

thanks in advance.

ETA! thanks so much everyone for your replies! the pieces came out yummy! and they're doin fairly well. i found a hand drill and it gets the  job done. but now either i  have to be more patient with the spray coats or find another sealer cuz my earrings stick together.
