221  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Will Stretch Twill work with this pattern? Simplicity 3566 on: December 05, 2007 09:28:32 PM
i say there's only one way to find out- try it!

i'm guessing you need about 2 yards for the pants, that can't be more then $15 . if it's not to your liking you can always wear it at home.

i always go by what i want my garment to feel like, who cares what the suggested fabrics are. try it, you never know

226  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: yarn to knit for a baby question on: March 21, 2007 09:21:59 PM
i have to reply to add that when i said acrylics i mean the cheap ones that you can buy at Michaels for $2.00 for one pound.

i know that there are many different acrylic blends. i assumed everyone knew the one i was talking about, the ones that 90% of baby blankets usually get made out of, because they come in baby colors.

what about something cozy?  i want to say something like chenille, but i know there are other ones that are very soft.

i personally HATE acrylic - cheap acrylic- yarn/ blankets. i think you should investigate into soft, cozy yarn.

i had quiet a few people give me acrylic blankets when i had my baby- i used them to cover her changing table, i definitely never wrapped her in one. they are not warm at all.
228  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making Your Own Corset? on: March 20, 2007 11:51:33 AM
i was wondering if anyone knew of what type of corset is best for postpartum bellies?

a lot of the corsets don't really tuck in the lower abdomen, just the waist. can anyone recommend one that would address the lower abdomen- better put : mommy pouch area
229  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / drawing empire waist pattern help on: March 20, 2007 10:57:46 AM
i need help drawing up a pattern, I need to make this dress this week and ordering it will not get it here in time.

its this dress, http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V8285=x&TI='8285'&page=1

which has an empire waist and I believe a 6-gore skirt. i know how to do the top part, but not how to do a empire waist gored skirt with princess seams

could someone offer a quick tutorial how to draw it up ( pattern), like where to measure, and if this is indeed a 6 gore skirt( i know how to do those )

thanks a million
