61  tetris costumes: halloween 2007!! {beaucoup de pictures} in Halloween Costumes by threehang on: November 03, 2007 09:16:56 AM
Halloween is pretty intense at my high school, and my friends and I wanted to have a really awesome costume, and we came up with TETRIS :]

So 7 of us worked to make the costumes, it took SO much time, cardboard, ducttape and paint, but it was really fun, and totally worth it. The only thing is, one of the pieces completely failed, and we ended up having only six pieces. (we nixed the piece that's a straight line) But it was still really fun, parading around the high school in giant boxes and impeding traffic along the way!

Enjoy! Hope everyone had a happy halloween! <3

62  Re: TUTORIAL: Singlet Style Shopping Bag (like the plastic shopping bag) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by threehang on: September 14, 2007 07:09:26 PM
Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial! At first, I wasn't interested in making it because I'm not the grocery shopper in my house (my dad is) but after seeing other people's bags too, I realized they make cute totes in general!

So here it is! I used a Target bag, but cut an extra three inches off the bottom and added a couple inches to the straps...It didn't really have the effect I thought it would. Next time I do this I'll make it a lot longer. The fabric I bought at Joann on clearance for $2. And the black was just crappy fabric from Wal-mart I had lying around.

64  Harry Potter Midnight Release Party Teeshirts! [pic heavy] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by threehang on: July 23, 2007 12:56:29 PM
I bought two black teeshirts from the boys section at Target to make my shirt and my sister's shirt for the Deathly Hallows Release.

Here's mine:

And here's my sister's:

And I made these Golden Snitch buttons out of polymer clay and added them to the sleeves! ( They're not in the pictures above...I added them after)

Enjoy!!

65  Beach Cake! in Dessert by threehang on: July 23, 2007 12:42:04 PM
My friend and I had a combined sweet sixteen at the beginning of the summer, and our sortof kindof theme was, pretty much, SUMMER. And naturally, we had to have an awesome cake  Grin and her dad is amazing at baking and cooking, and he made us this cake, and we did the decorating (most of it).

The beach ball was carved by my friend's dad, and he did also ice it and decorate it -- that was the hardest part, getting those sprinkles to stick and fill up the sections. But it turned out awesome.

The beach sand is yellow sugar crystals, I don't really know if there's a special word for those kind of sprinkles...And then the water was done with icing and more sugar crystal sprinkles, and the fish were gummies that we cut in have and stuck them in so it looked like they were jumping out of the water. And finally, we added little umbrellas!

66  My first two projects actually completed, and my first post! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by threehang on: June 03, 2007 04:20:22 PM
Hey everyone! My name is April and I'm sixteen years old. I live in upstate New York and will be a Junior :oin high school come September. I got a sewing machine for my birthday in 8th grade and have barely touched it until now! I have boxes and boxes of old clothes and fabrics that are dying to become new clothes! Roll Eyes

Here are two dresses that are actually completely finished AND wearable. The purple one is made from scratch and the leopard one is a recon from a dress at Goodwill. (I don't have before pictures, but it was just a pretty rectangular hideous-square-neckline spaghetti strap dress -- so I added some black teeshirt fabric.)

I wore the purple one to school the day after I finished it, and it was awesome. Grin
