2  Halloween 2010: Magic Carpet and Coloring Book costumes in Halloween Costumes by threehang on: November 08, 2010 04:19:05 PM
For Halloweekend this year, I was the Magic Carpet from Aladdin on Friday night, and a Coloring Book on Saturday night!

My friends and I were the cast of Aladdin:

which explains the Magic Carpet costume:

For the coloring book costume, I used sharpie to doodle on a white teeshirt and white tights, and then wore markers around my neck so people could color me in during the night's festivities! It was the most fun costume I've ever worn.  Grin

and after people colored me in!

thanks for looking/comments/crits welcome!

4  My favorite DIY recon - skirt from shorts - WITH TUTORIAL! :D in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by threehang on: August 24, 2010 11:35:23 AM
My favorite thing to do is scope the shorts section at the Salvation Army for exceedingly hideous elastic-waist shorts and then turn them into skirts! So here's a ton of skirts I made from shorts, and a quick tutorial for you too!  Grin

And here's a tutorial!

5  sister's 8th grade graduation dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by threehang on: June 24, 2010 07:51:01 AM
My little sister graduated from 8th grade last night, and part of this rite of passage is a final dance for all the 8th graders, and they all get dressed up and such, and it's a lot of fun (as I did this five years ago)!!

So I made her dress, per her request, and she told me pink and ruffley, and she picked the neckline, length and fabric, so it was a pretty collaborative effort. I was iffy on the fabric choice at first, but I think she made the right choice! It's made of 100% Rayon jersey, which is soooo soft, I love it. I'm not a huge fan of this rosey pink color, but it totally works for this dress.

and here it is swishing!

comments and criticisms are welcome! you can also read more about it at my blog (linked in signature).

love and right triangles,

Hey! I made this first draft/prototype of a necklace I've been thinking about for ages. I'd love your comments/criticism/thoughts/anything!

It's made out of a contact solution bottle, recycled fabric and jewelry findings.

Thanks! Let me know what you think!

Hey! It's been a while Smiley

I have a TON of new things to post, but here's two to get us started..

The leopard print circle scarf is my FAVORITE. The skirt is made from this awesome thrifted faux-acid-wash fabric , and it has POCKETS.

These photos were taken and modeled by two of my bestest friends Cheesy

8  pink for valentine's day duh in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by threehang on: February 14, 2010 05:02:01 PM
In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I spent the weekend making this dress to wear today  Kiss

The heart cut out isn't perfect, but only from up close:

The fabric was a remnant, I think. It's a weirdly textured twill-y woven. I also used another floral remnant to back the neckline and the heart, but you obviously can't see it from the outside. I drafted the pattern myself and now I can make similar dresses super quick which is super exciting  Smiley

Happy Valentine's Day (and Happy Chinese New Year!)

love and right triangles,
