This is great, really high quality! I'm pondering how I am going to keep my cat litter from being flicked everywhere, so the tray needs enclosing but there is no way I can build anything like this...

It was super easy, I just popped out the inserts in the cupboard door and put in new ones.  I could have even kept the old ones and cut them down, but the pieces I had fit perfectly without any work needed.  Smiley  Easier to do with a cheap cupboard than a nice one, certainly!

Update:

I ended up throwing them away.  Sad  I hadn't realized how much the photos I print fade when in direct sunlight, but they definitely do.  They were almost white, so they looked really lame.  Oh well, they were easy to make and I'm sure I could do it again and get the images printed professionally.

Awesome.  Smiley

How did you make them not sharp and pointy?  I've messed around with computer parts to use as jewelry, but there are always so many sharp little poky pieces!  Did you cut any of them to get them the right size?

If it was legal, you could totally sell that.
I've had a lot of requests to purchase it already!  But yeah, I know it isn't legal and it isn't a good idea to do so, so I am not selling it.  I also spent a ton of time on it, so I don't really want to just give it away, either.

Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone!   Grin

Thanks for all the kind replies!

And no, I don't plan on painting it.  My lovely cat has decided to pee on the floor lately, so we've been taking her litter box out most days.   Angry

Aww, now I want the newer version of Photoshop.   Cheesy

Thanks!  Smiley

I found some more pictures of in-progress shots.  Cheesy

This shows the original glass door on the wardrobe.  We were going to keep it, but ended up taking it off and making a 3rd door to match the other two doors.

Gratuitous kitty picture!

Thanks everyone!  I definitely spent a lot of time working on this.  Smiley

I'm just wondering if the printer would have a problem with trademarked  images.
That was something I thought of at the beginning, and then forgot about!  I ordered the photobook from Kodak, and they said it shipped, so apparently it's ok.

Seriously, this is AMAZING. Please teach me your ways of digital scrapbooking!
There are lots of tutorials on digital scrapbooking....but mostly I just love playing with Photoshop.  I took a Computer Art class in college that helped, but there are lots of Photoshop tutorials around, too.

You really found that much nice photos of calvin anf hobbes?
I had such trouble finding pictures online (Bill Waterson hasn't released any C&H images for sale, so there really aren't any available for commercial use).  The non-food pictures were actually computer wallpapers (the Hot Chocolate and Autumn Cookies pages, for example).  The rest, I took out my books and took pictures with my digital camera to get better quality images.  I sell jewelry online, so I have a good deal of experience getting the lighting just right and photographing close up images...which helped a lot.  But I still had to edit the comic strips in Photoshop so they looked better.  Lots of messing with the images' levels, color balance, and skewing the edges.

I actually posted this somewhere else and then realized this is probably a more appropriate place for it.  Sorry!

Anyway, here is the cabinet we built for my cat...

Inspired by various other hacks that I've seen on the internet, my very own kitty litter cabinet.

Here is the before:

And inside:

Now there's just her litter box and scoop inside:

We no longer have all the stuff on top, so I think it looks a little nicer.  Smiley

This cupboard was once part of a set that I had worked on earlier.  I redid the bookshelf and posted about it here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=274263.msg3100134#msg3100134

After seeing this Calvin & Hobbes book (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=356922.0;all), I wanted to make one for my sister for Christmas.  But, I couldn't bear cutting up any of my Calvin & Hobbes books.  I like digital scrapbooking, so I figured I'd do it that way.  There are remarkably few Calvin & Hobbes pictures online (good quality pictures, anyway), so I ended up taking pictures of the comic strips that I wanted.  Tongue

I did all the work in Photoshop and ordered a photobook with these images.  I haven't got the book yet, I hope it all comes out ok!

She likes to cook, so they are real recipes.

Anyway, here they are:

It took a lot of time to complete, but I hope she likes it!  Smiley
