I live in Auburn and just stumbled upon a cool yarn shop.  I think it's pretty new, but the owner is really nice and says she'll give free knitting lessons to anyone who stumbles in the door.  There are also a lot of scheduled classes it seems, but I haven't tried any of them out yet.
