1  Re: Fakie Van Slip-ons + Prismacolor Markers + Sea Creatures + Free Time = PIC H in Shoes: Completed Projects by like-a-hermit on: January 02, 2008 03:28:19 PM
They're beautiful!!  Oh, and you can get waterproofing stuff for shoes.  I've seen it in Payless or something like that.  If not, a clear coat of fabric glue or something might work? (i'm pretty sure they make some sort of laquer for fabric.)

Thanks! Thats really helpful  Smiley

Wow!! Shocked The art looks fantastic - can you give us some closeups of each one? Although if I'd made them, I know I wouldn't want to take them off ever! I love them.

Thank you and sure Smiley

Bad lighting but what can I do?  Sad
I'd totally take commissions but I don't know how! The mailing system is a mystery to me

thanks so much for the replies Cheesy

2  Fakie Van Slip-ons + Prismacolor Markers + Sea Creatures + Free Time = PIC HEAVY in Shoes: Completed Projects by like-a-hermit on: January 01, 2008 08:10:40 AM

CEPHALOPODsare where its at
Shoes make a good canvas.
These sad, blank creatures were lying around for a long time destined for some sort of creative redemption. It came in the form of prismacolor markers and some miscellaneous doodles in my sketchbook...and a bit of a fume high, I'm sure.

I'm not quite sure if they're waterproof yet (ironic, I know). I don't intend to experiment too much, just wear them on (rare) dry days.
K ENJOY!

Hehe okay here we go:

wwooo sorry this is so messy but basically you just need to work on proportions and pose  - always remember that hands are big enough to cover your face.
Also, since she's looking sideways, her opposite shoulder is going to follow so we'll see more of the right side of her body.

You're pretty good though, keep going at it Smiley

The front, my face and my Red Sox hat...

I wanted it crooked  Wink

Back

And if you love Ratatat as I do heres the stencil I made (minus the front text, that was just the enlarged name..yah) Feel free to use and spread...

If you don't love Ratatat its still a cool rocker stencil (just remove 'Ratatat' and you're set...)

8  Doll Armature Things - Zombie Bunny + Emo Aaron (pleanty o' pics) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by like-a-hermit on: April 23, 2007 03:00:00 PM
K so. Apart from sewing I lurrrve to craft n' stuff.
And I took an animation class last semester and one of our assignments was stop motion animation consisting of 2 posable armatures. And this is what I came up with!
Presenting Emo Arron and Zombie Bunny and their great adventures (of falling apart every 5 minutes [but with enough effort finally stayed together sturdily])

^ AAron is kinda sad about life. Sad

^Zombie bunny with my previous train wreck disaster of my first armature attempt. How not to make an armature 101. lol creepy hand.

Yeah so I used a crazy lot of materials...Umm wire base, wrapped in duct tape, secured with epoxy putty (this stuff is god [but it smells like woah]), tons of scrap cloth, paper clay, tin foil, a tiny styrofoam ball, some like frickin' cotton whatev, acrylic paint, crazy scarf yarn, hot glue, a lot of caffeine and rage and what-have-you.

I had much more fun making the armatures then making the animation.
I would like to make more and perhaps slap together a tutorial of my madness meathods
