Hey Guys!  I got my birthday swap package from Spotnick the other day and have I told you all lately that SPOTNICK IS FRIKKEN' AWESOME!?!?!?!  Grin

For realz!  Check this out!:



Thats what I got in my swap package!  A drop spindle and a book on spinning (Oh man, do I ever love craft books!) and 3 different types of fibre of spin!  THREE!!!  And look how pretty they are!!!  The light blue one is silk!!!  Holy Cow!!!

spotnick, I can't even say thank you enough, cause I got so excited about this present!  It is definitely the best thing I got for my birthday, maybe one of the best things I've ever got!  I'm so excited to start spinning!!!  Cheesy

So glad you like the arm warmers cinnamon teal!   Cheesy  I just realized that they are the first cable project I've ever completed!  (I knit myself a cabled scarf one time a few years ago, but never finished it)

There really isn't a way that you can tell how much a package is going to cost to send cause it will be different for different places, like the "Once you Pop swap", I usually don't swap overseas much anymore because it got too expensive, but I figured for OYP, seeing as the package was small and lightweight, I'd do overseas.  My partner was in South Korea and I ended up spending $37 to send one pringles can.   Sad

I've been finding postal prices really bad lately.  I'm in Canda and generally the swap packages I send within' Canada and the US cost me between $15 and $20 for regular ground shipping and take for freakin' ever.  Like, it's nothing for a partner in the US to have to wait 3 weeks for a package from me.  The last 2 I sent weren't too bad, they arrived in less than 2 weeks.  Even within Canda its generally 2-3 weeks before a package reaches its destination, and it will get worse before Xmas.

Did you take this picture the first day?  It looks really cool!  I've carved pumpkins this way too and I find that after a couple of days, when the pumpkin dries out, it looks even more awesome.

What tools did you use?  I usually use a vegetable peeler, some paring knives and last year I had a cheap set of wood carving tools that I found at the dolalr store, including a V gouge that was an AMAZING help!  Smiley
