Oak needles, size burned into the side (8mm, US 11) with fimo clay ends with flowers sculpted and painted on.

Oak needles, size burned into the side (10mm, US 15) with fimo clay skulls on the ends

Okay, so for anyone out there that loves to draw and colour: Prismacolor Scholar coloured pencils.  SERIOUSLY.  Best pencils EVER. I lurked around Deviantart for a long time and people always said they were good, but I figured "Whatev, a pencil's a pencil"  but no man, they are seriously so awesome to colour with.  Creamy and smooth and bright and blend SUPER well.  I highly recommend them.

43  "Late nights, prescription drugs" in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by KrisCreates on: April 18, 2008 09:13:52 AM
Here are two pieces from a collection I'm currently working on called "Late nights, prescription drugs".  They're kind of whimsical pop-art pieces that I seem to work on only extremely late at night and early in the morning (between 2 and 6 am.)...

"Today's the day the teddy bear destroys the city"

"Life in a people bowl"

44  Trees, femininity and hands... in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by KrisCreates on: April 14, 2008 09:47:46 PM
yeah, those are the three things I've become obsessed with lately and have been drawing and incorporating into my art.  here's some new water-colour and ink stuff that I did this evening.  (The black ink reflected a little in the photos, so some areas look more light when they're actually black.):

I don't know what to call this one, so I'm going with the simple title "Earth godess".

This one I call "Living Womb"

Anyway, these are really different than the art I usually do.  Normally I just draw portraits, or paint boring things like landscapes, because thats the stuff I sell, but my friend is holding an exhibition of her art at a local coffee shop and asked me if I wanted to contribute a few pieces, so I "got my art on" and did these (I have one more in the works, I'll add it when It's finished.  Comments appreciated!

45  tattoo inspired fimo pendant nacklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by KrisCreates on: April 10, 2008 08:39:33 PM
I've been spending MEGA amounts of time lurking around craftster, and after seeing all kinds of cool stuff made out of fimo clay, I had to go out and get some and try it myself!  So I scoured my tiny town until I found the one store here that sells it.

Well, My first few tries I burned the stuff preeeetty bad, so I just painted over it, and I really like the way the pendants turned out.  I probably would have painted them anyway, I paint everything...  Its my thing that I do.  they're also sprayed with a shiny gloss, cause I like shiny things, so there's a bit of a glare in the pictures...

So here's my red nautical star.  I love nautical stars.  I later made one in black and white with a smaller star on each side.  I shoulda took a picture of that one...

My shamrock.  I also did a four leaf clover, but I gave it to a boy I like who plays in an Irish punk band...   Wink

and a girly skull, 'cause it was fun.

46  Some stuff I knit during the winter in Knitting: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: April 10, 2008 01:35:23 PM
Well, I had a pretty sucky winter.

It all began in November when my husband left me for his old girlfriend.  Yup.  That was pretty harsh.  So now I'm 25 and about to be divorced and still trying to get through university and my poor kid's heart is broken along with mine.  What do I do?

What any damn good Crafty Chick would do.  I crafted through the pain!  I beaded, I sewed, but mostly, I KNIT!!!

Here's a small sampling of the stuff I made from December onward:

from the top left:  5 men's beanies in Bernat softie chunky knit in stockinette stich, A pale yellow women's ribbed beanie in Bernat Haven, a boys ribbed beanie in Bernat softie chunky,  Part of an Irish hiking scarf (First time with cables, I love 'em!)  A mohawk hat in Briggs and Little pure wool, lightly felted, pink and black striped scarf in Red Heart light and Lofty (the Quickest knitting yarn in the world, I swear!)  My gigantic green scarf, I love huge scarves and this is definitely huge! (my friends and I call it "THE BIGGEST SCARF IN THE WORLD!!!"  *yes, it needs to be written in all caps!*)  Half of a "Big Bad Baby Blanket" that I'm knitting for my cousin who is due in late May, knit with Bernat Harmony, and my favorite rose coloured floppy hat, knit with Paton's Divine.  (Favorite yarn EVER!)

and my kid wearing his mohawk hat, which he LOVES and wears everyday!

47  Re: First 2 needle mittens in Knitting: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: March 19, 2008 08:53:18 PM
Wink Ok, I have already stated before that I HATE dpns....and I can't tell you how much without injecting major curse words.

My best advice in life is to embrace the DPN's.  Seriously, I had a major fear until i said "YOU WILL LEARN IT OR DIE TRYING!!!"  and now that I've learned, I'm all about it.  Takes some getting used to, but so worth it.

Nice mittens, love the colours, very cute!!!

48  Mannequin Zombie Torso for Haunted House!!! in Halloween Decor and Parties by KrisCreates on: September 27, 2007 06:48:56 PM
My cousin had one of the best and creepiest haunted houses I've ever seen last year and this year he wants to top that so he's been working all year collecting creepy things and making top-secret halloween projects (One I know about is a Guillotine).

This year he sent me an 80's mannequin torso to re-paint as a rotting corpse so I said "Awesome!" and got to work!

I love Halloween!
