My three AMAZING partners each sent me two pairs of earrings each, and now I have six pairs of the most AWESOME earrings that I have ever owned!  I absolutely adore each and every pair and have been showing them off like crazy!

From Grindhouse Hussy:  Beautiful sea themed earrings!  the sea shell ones in particular have been worn several times.  Smiley

From SavvySister:  These are amazing, the white ones in particular, I don't have any thing else even remotely like them, and I love them!

From MermaidCafe: The moons are so pretty, and the dangly black ones are really really cool!  I'll be wearing them to the Metric concert that I'm going to on Friday!

Thank you so very much ladies!  I really enjoyed this swap and I'm super thrilled with the earrings!

Well it seems my partner went M.I.A., but Edie 22 is Angeling for me!  Yay!  I'm excited.

Anyway, I figured I'd post the stuff I made for my partner.

K, here's the purse.  Its pretty big, good for stuffing alot of stuff inside.  it's made of a medium weight black canvas.  I designed it loosely based on a bag I have.  It has kinda like a hoodie kangaroo pocket on the front, and the image on the front I hand-painted in pink acrylic paint.  The buttons aren't functional, they're just there to look purdy, haha!   I wish I had taken better pictures...

Here's the inside of the purse, I lined it in this ready cool hot pink cotton fabric.  You can't see it in the picture, but I also added a loop of fabric with a tiny flashlight hooked to it so that if you are somewhere dark (Like a movie theatre or something) and need to look for something in your purse, you'll be able to see. Smiley

This is an on the go embroidery kit that I put together.  Vintage pin-up FTW!

The contents of said embroidery kit: embroidery thread, teeny embroidery hoop, teeny scissors, needles, (some sewwing notions in case of on the go repairs) and black and white cotton fabric to embroider on.

The rest of the stuff I filled the purse with: 2 necklaces and a keychain I made, hand sanitizer, chapstick, a key cover, mints and some candy.

Oh well, I hope the person that recieves it at least likes it and gets some good use out of it!

Lookit lookit lookit!!!  I got my package from Miss Dolly Today!!!!   Grin

Look at all that stuff!  SO MUCH TEA!  theres a tote bag and a tea wallet and a pouch all made out of beautiful fabric, crocheted coasters, hot chocolate, tea towel, so much stuff!  lets take a closer look...

Look at this beautiful Mug cozy!  My fav colour!  so pretty!

The totally awesome mug underneath that she decorated with my username and other crafty goodness.  The funny thing is, I was at my brother's house last week and he had a mug just like this and I was mega jealous, now I have my own!!!  Wheee!

The super awesome tea wallet and pouch filled with delicious teas!!!

TINY TEACUP EARRINGS!  *swoons* I'm surprised you didn't hear me squee all the way across the pond...

And as Miss Dolly mentioned, we agreed to do a swap between our kids too, so this is what Miss Dolly and her super cool little daughter sent to my son Caleb, I can't even express how happy he was when he got home from school and opened his package!

Isn't this awesome!  Hot chocolate everywhere!  He LOVES those Mini Jaffa Cakes, they almost didn't make it into the picture...  Theres a tote bag and a pencil case, a craft kit to make a pin wheel, a cool pen and pencil and erasers, lets look closer...

An awesome Bart Simpson mug that he loves!  He is currently drinking a cup of hot chocolate out of it and saying "Type 'thank you thank you thank you', mom!"

Super cool little finger puppet dudes!  He really likes these!  I really like them too!  I wanna learn how to make them now!

Oh, there was also a crocheted donut in the package too, but he left that upstairs when he ran up to show his grandma what he got in the mail, so it didn't make it into the picture.

Thank you thank you Miss Dolly and daughter Maisie!  You sure did send a super awesome package and we are super thankful to you for it!   Smiley

16  Alter-Ego embroidery project: I'm a chain-smoking drunk... in Needlework: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: February 22, 2010 10:25:31 PM
This is my first year of art school after spending 3 years in University working on an English Degree.

For our 3 Dimensional Media course our teacher asked us to do an embroidery that represented our alter ego.  Well, beside my very happy creative-enegry filled art student, there is the writer side of me, that like many writers before is jaded and fueled by alcohol and cigarettes.  This is what I did:

a close up of the ashtray full of squished cigarette butts:

Close up of detail on the beer bottle:

Close up of detail on cigarette pack:

And just for a little background, Molson Extra is a pretty dirty ol' beer.  It's like 6.9% alcohol, so it's a strong beer with a strong taste.  Viceroy cigarettes are likewise pretty dirty, cheap as you can get cigarettes.  I'm not a smoker most of the time, but my buddy and I, who is also a writer, get together every now and then and indulge in our vices. tsk tsk...

This embroidery took me 17 HOURS.  This wouldn't be too bad except that I'm a major procrastinator and waited until the day before the project was due to start it.  I embroidered for 17 hours straight!  My hands were so sore and crippled by the time I was ready to go to class that I could barely pick things up and had to wrap my hand in a bandage for the next 3 days.  Yeah, so I learned a little bit about not procrastinating on such time consuming projects...  Undecided  Embarrassed

17  It's a little teapot, short and stout! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: February 22, 2010 10:06:47 PM
This is my first year of art school!  In my 3 dimensional design and media course we have to do alot of things that are more craft based.  One of our projects was to create an everyday object out of fabric and stuffing.  I made a teapot cuase I couldn't even get through a DAY without tea!

It had to be hand sewn with cotton material.  I like how it came out because I'm not really a sewwer anyway, ang the ESPECIALLY not into sewwing by hand.  I think it sort of has an "Alice in Wonderland Mad-Tea Party" feeling...

18  RAWR! Bear and Dinosaur hats! in Knitting: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: February 22, 2010 09:56:25 PM
These are two hats I made over the past couple of months, the bear hat I made for fun, the Dinosaur hat I made for a friend that requested one each for her and her son!

Action shot:

(I might need to make another one for me, cause this is pretty bad-assed...  Purple and yellow dinosuar methinks...)

I also made 2 of these, but i forgot to take a picture of the other one.  It was off white and brown.  I put it up for auction with a couple of other knit peices I did in a fundraiser for Haiti.

19  Super soft boucle hats (What a pain in the butt to knit!!!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by KrisCreates on: February 22, 2010 09:50:35 PM
Ugh!  Boucle!  It drives me INSANE but it makes such pretty knit hats!  Here are two that I knit, one last winter and one just last week:

This one is knit with Bernat Galaxy, the colour is "Pluto" I think...  I got the yarn on clearance back last year and it was just so soft, and I have a thing for yarns that contain mohair.  It knit up so pretty, even though it was a bit difficult to work with at times.

This is one of my fav winter hats.  It's so warm!  The Pom-pom and tassles are made with Bernat Wool Blends yarn.  The hat pattern is improvised, I based it on another hat, but heavily modified it so that it could be knit in the round with a different weight yarn and size needles.

I love this hat!  I'm in art school and I find myself without the time to sleep, eat and do homework, so I often have to choose between the 3, this is my "OMG I GOTTA BE AT SCHOOL IN 5 MINUTES!" hat.  It's the hat that I throw on when I don't have time to do anything with my hair, haha.

Again, Its an improvised pattern.  I cast on stitches, knit a ribbed band, then switched to stockinette stitch and picked up stitches to make the hat looser, knit until I was happy with the length, then started decreasing.  The yarn is Bernat Soft Boucle in "Fall Shades"

I recieved my last bookmark today!  Hooray!  And I got my camera back from my sticky fingered sister just in time to post them!   Grin

First up, from blupaisan:

I love the little snail drawing!  Snails are my favorite.   Smiley

Next I recieved this one from Lunanne:

And she sent them in this awesome card, I hung it on the back of my bedroom door where I keep all the cool art I get from people. Grin

then I got these awesome bookmarks from Harvey:
Isn't this cool!?  I love the little knitting charm.

She sent this one too because she said she wasn't confident in her metal working skills.  What?  No way, your metal working skills are awesome!   Grin

And today I got this very super cool bookmark from islandmum:

its a knit bookmark!  With little knitting needles!  *swoon*

Thank you so much guys!  All these bookmarks are super beautiful and I can tell that you put a lot of time and thought into them!  This was such a fun swap!
