1  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Copy/paste ideas to other sites on: March 23, 2007 05:11:14 AM
I'm just curious, but is there some sort of official relationship between craftster and craftbits? I'm seeing some tutorials and photos from these threads end up on craftbits (they at least host copies of the images). Ironically I have seen a post here saying "i saw this tute on craftbits" when the original came from here: http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=888 ==> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=45985.0 and http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=7962.msg1583542#msg1583542

Messenger bag with gust example (thanks to all for this tute, I'll try it when I have the materials): http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=876 ==> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=2684.0

I've seen posts from the creator of craftbits in an old thread (about crafty ventures). I've noticed that there is more than that one example of a copy/paste and I wonder why there isn't a link to craftster from craftbits more prominently shown - ie: given more credit.

I'm not some intellectual property nut, I'm a little irked about "giving credit where it's due" (no sleep was be harmed in the pondering of this thought). And apologies ahead if I cause some trouble (unintentional, I swear!). Good points about it though:
- They are easier to search for than in forum threads
- They host the images themselves
- They put the creative commons deed on each free project  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/ (no commercial use, I wonder if this extends for making the items to sell..?)
- They attempt to credit the craftster that contributed the tute

I'm pondering on messaging the 'contributors' if they have been contacted by craftbits, but I'm lazy/shy/a craftster n00b and probably won't. Oh, what are thy thoughts, mighty Craftster, source of inspiration?
