591  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / "don't be jealous... on: March 21, 2008 11:02:45 PM
...that I've been chatting online with babes all day."

I scored huge at the thrift store yesterday...besides this awesome Kip Dynamite shirt I found (hiding in the little boy section no less)...I dug out a Nine Inch Nails shirt, a Tool shirt and an Oscar the grouch shirt.....they all fit me perfect but I'm probably going to improve them eventually anyways and you guys will be the first to know!.!

side view with the hood up...

the zebra is 2 bandanas I got at walmart...the inside of the hood is lined with black tshirt fabric......I wanted the zebra inside the hood but I screwed up when I was sewing around the edge so instead of scrapping it I sewed it onto the shirt inside out so the seam up the back of it is on the outside.....but I absolutely love it!.!

I will find you a link...but I think the best way might to be a cheap one and cut it up...to make the one in my default I had to wing it....
my boyfriend has one but:
a) it is a collectors item so I can't destroy it
b)and it has no top to it so hair sticks out

but I was able to look at it and get the feel for it. the red parts are also glued on because I really can only sew straight seems lol so I cheated...the one in my pic is pretty much all it can be used for: posing for pictures...or else it will probably just fall apart...

593  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: The Pink Spiders!! [Now, with added pinstripes and extra-girly-goodness!] on: March 21, 2008 03:46:10 PM
AWESOME!.!
one thing I like about reconstructions is....no matter how many people bought the shirt, yours will be the only one like it and other broads are going to get jealous because they just can't be as awesome as you  Tongue

I am thrilled you could make sense of my diagrams because you know they were so detailed and realistic  Grin

actually I was thinking of a strap in the back of my boondocks shirt as well....the illusion of the sleeves staying up with no support rules!.!
594  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Stuffed Hobbes (from Calivin and Hobbes) *first post* on: March 20, 2008 09:06:18 PM
my friend had asked me to make this version of hobbes and Ive been putting it off for months...I'm going to make it out of fleece(which I finally bought today), so it will be different in that sense....so I promise I'm not copying you!.! yours is already better because yours is crocheted which I can't do, I know, I have tried...girl you have a talent!.! I'm blown away....your bf is a lucky guy  Smiley

597  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Boondock Saints on: March 12, 2008 11:34:44 AM
thank you all so much  Smiley

I did 2 other shirts, I'll have to find them and put them up, where I just cut the front and neck out of an existing shirt and sewed the panel from a rock shirt to the front and kept the existing sides sleeves and back....thats sort of where I got the idea...I might even add a hood just because you really cant go wrong with a hood...
598  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Boondock Saints on: March 11, 2008 11:49:51 PM
I know!.! it's just something I can't help.....whenever I get a shirt, it if isn't my size I take any size I can get because I know i'm going to cut it up and make it fit...sometimes I look at clothes just for the fabric....
599  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Boondock Saints on: March 11, 2008 11:27:12 PM
I absolutely didn't mean to post yet, I wasn't completely finished writing and adding pictures instead of preview I hit post D'oh!.!

as for the sleeves, I pretty much figured it out while splicing 2 tshirts together so it's kind of hard for me to explain....so I made a graph.. Cheesy

the gray material was a hanes mens medium I brought it home from the store and found a hole in it so i threw it in my scrap pile...I guess you could make up your own pattern if you have other fabric in mind besides another existing shirt.....I made a tube shirt and attached the sleeves like this

haha I know it looks silly but let me describe what you're looking at....

the view is as if you were looking down into the black shirt tube the green is the side seam and the gray is the sleeve tube...the front is clearly labeled as such  Tongue
sew the armpit to the top of the tube...I did a longer seam in the front (about 5" from the side seam) than the back (about 3")

I tried to explain it the best I can...I usually to everything by eye with little to no planning and rarely use actual measurements

and please excuse my terrible face in the picture...it was hard to get my boyfriend to behave and take a picture of exactly what I asked him to

I don't have any before pics of it, but it was a long sleeve shirt..I got it last St. Patrick's Day from some guy that makes them....he just gave it to me......I had every intention of cutting it up and I just never got around to it...today was the day..and I am fairly satisfied with the outcome...

back (everbody is irish on st paddy's day)

sides I did in fabric marker (I cleaned and now I can't find my paints  Sad)

the back is longer than the front, I was going to cut it off but I think i love it too much!.!
