1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: Squiddles! How can I make some? on: September 25, 2010 05:23:40 PM
Thanks, GotGrey! That helps a lot. I might have to modify it for these specific plushes but it's a good start!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Squiddles! How can I make some? on: September 24, 2010 09:07:38 AM
So I am trying to figure out how to make some squiddles from the comic MSPaint Adventures. They are these little squid-like toys that could be bean-bags with "electromagnets" inside so they pair up like Hallmark's Kiss-Kiss Bears to form "Tangle Buddies!" But there are a bunch of ways it looks like they could be made. Since it's a 2D comic, I'm having trouble expanding that to a 3D form, as they look like they should be. There's no shading hints because of the cartoon style of the comic. Any fans or plushie veterans want to help with this project? Maybe we can do a craft-along.

For material, I'm thinking a velvety stretch, since I have some bright pink leftover from a "bean bag doll" kit. I will probably applique the eyes since they are very stylized. I don't think I could find big enough plastic eyes either, especially since the scale is odd. They should be huge based on the chibi-teens they're next to.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: spool strip tease! on: September 24, 2010 07:09:30 AM
I'm with KnotKnit, it looks like a Kawaii Not strip, by Meghan Murphy, but if she did it, the spool would be smiling at the end (like nilmerg suggested), saying something naughty, and only in 4 frames. You would probably enjoy her comic, and she would probably enjoy this embroidery!

Really cute xstitch!
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first tiny haunted house on: September 24, 2010 06:42:31 AM
Looks great! I love all the real-life details.

I think my favorite part though is the light-activating mechanism. It reminds me of theses dollhouses I had as a kid that you activated with a key in the chimney. The key was this magnetic plastic wand-like thing that you could also use to make the figurines dance or ice skate or whatever. Like hot wheels tracks for dolls. So awesome! (end nostalgia)

It might also be Kraft paper, depending on the thickness. I'm not sure where to find it though. Maybe a packaging supply store? It's used as filler material a lot, or for wrapping boxes.

Nice glass selection. You should send this in to onemilliongiraffes.com.
Seconded!

Any updates on this? I can join since I'm done moving and school hasn't started yet (and I'm only part-time anyway).

These are really pretty! Are they still usable as crayons though?

Single diagonal stitches are called needlepoint. Love the sprite characters!
