everyone's been so quiet lately Smiley

Just wanted to check in again - I've finished the stamps for my partner and am off to find some dress-up goodies Smiley

Sorry kianee, your kiddo's hat has been done for a few days, but I wanted to get everything in one package to save on shipping!

That's perfectly okay, I'm looking forward to what you made! (It's going to take *ages* to get here, anyway)
13  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Children's Wish Swap Round 1 on: August 25, 2008 11:11:07 AM
I claim patty_o_furniture for name stamps and dress-up stuff for her girls.

This is my 2nd claim, 1 sent, none received.

I'm a university student, mother of a 16-month old boy. We live in a Bavarian town in Germany. We are big time computer geeks, so he is more a fan of machines than of animals. Right now tractors are his favorite, followed closely by cars of any sort. We also love to craft together (which basically means getting terribly messy) and make music (another favorite pastime). He wears a 2T.

What I'd like to have for him:

* A criss-cross apron/smock type for crafting (like this: http://www.wists.com/kianee/c56c56d71bb4a22cddb1e016b32ab3c9?offset=0 or this http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=264836.0), because I can't figure out for the life of me how the pattern is supposed to look like
* crayon roll
* self-made musical instrument that rattles, goes 'bump' or is otherwise fun for a toddler
* I Spy with fewer, but larger things to discover
* jumpsuit or overall
* hat with ears thank you superhooker!
* rainy day box (with activity ideas/crafting projects for a toddler)
* family tree picture to hang into our bedroom
* car-themed fridge magnets
* decorated long-sleeved shirt robot/machine/circuit board/car/bird themed

Supplies:

* watercolors, crayons, paintbrushes. Stuff to get messy with
* soft lightweight hemmed fabric for hide-and-seek
* we'll be happy to take old board books as well

Just a quick etiquette question on sending: Is sending a couple of days early okay in this swap or is it considered bad style? After more work on it tonight I should be done and I don't want to keep the package lying around here when it has somewhere to go to.

I claim summertimerolls for scarves/hats.

This is my first claim, none sent, none received.

I'm a university student, mother of a 16-month old boy. We live in a Bavarian town in Germany. We are big time computer geeks, so Linus is more a fan of machines than of animals. Right now tractors are his favorite, followed closely by cars of any sort. We also love to craft together (which basically means getting terribly messy) and make music (another favorite pastime). He wears a 2T.

What I'd like to have for him:

* pencil roll for Stabilo Woody pens
* self-made musical instrument that rattles, goes 'bump' or is otherwise fun for a toddler
* Anything to keep him busy in the car, as he hates car drives (loves cars only from the outside Roll Eyes
* jumpsuit or overall (also for crafting or for puddles)
* hat with ears
* rainy day box (more with activity ideas/crafting projects for a toddler, not with little bitty things - he eats those)
* family tree to hang into our bedroom

Supplies:

* watercolors, crayons, paintbrushes. Stuff to get messy with (he loves to paint himself and me and everything he can reach)

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but will maybe edit later with more.

Sounds great. I think I'll join (as soon as the baby's in bed) Smiley

I have a (probably rather stupid) question: I would love to join, but I'm not sure if I will be able to claim more than once or twice, with university starting back in a couple of weeks. Since this is supposed to be an ongoing thing, maybe it would be not advisable for me to join?

If you make this swap international, I'm in! Wink Really great idea, and there are lots of small quirky things one could craft, I imagine.
19  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ant hat! on: August 07, 2008 12:11:16 AM
I was totally inspired by the ant hat here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=261042.0, so I set out to make my own. I can't crochet, so I figured I'd construct one from old T-Shirts. I used this tutorial for the basic hat shape: http://cristophine.deviantart.com/art/Aviator-Cap-Tutorial-84150949

I really love it! Especially when I think how much I cursed the darn thing while making it. I think I had to undo more than half of the seams. Stretchy fabric is also really horrible to sew... bah.

Here's a picture:

Now for the antlers. I wanted to cover the pipe cleaners with fabric, but I'm afraid it would make them floppy. I haven't made a lining for the hat yet; maybe sewing them really tight to the lining would make them stand up better?
20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Oh man, that's one ugly dresser! on: August 02, 2008 10:21:04 AM
This is gorgeous! You did a great job on that dresser. The paint looks really smooth - how did you paint it, is it spraypainted or painted with a brush?
